2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Honestly mid 2nd to UDFA is such a small gap. You might as well pay him & lock him here with Evan. There's going to be so many Euros that are taken and will never see a minute or NBA action.

I just think you have to go for a wing or someone with higher ceiling than Isaiah with the early 2nds. Or offer them as a package with our 1st to get a higher pick in the draft.

I feel like in this draft it can get you into the top 10 or close. At least into the late lotto.

Outside of the top 5 or 6 there isn't much difference between guys going in the 7-25 range. Like me personally I don't see much of a difference between say a guy like PBJ and a guy like Peyton Watson at the moment, especially with PBJs struggles against a weaker schedule.

Looking like a deep enough draft for the team needs on the wing, but I wouldn’t be mad if they saw someone they liked at the 10-14 range and moved up to get them and that was their only pick.

I'm all for PBJ, but am fairly confident he'll hear his name called long before the Cavaliers' selection...

My ideal pick for the Cavaliers this year has the profile of Paul George coming out of college. 6'8" athlete that can score and defend from either wing position. There are several guys like that that should be available throughout the first round.

I've posted it before, but my ideal realistic lineup for the Cavaliers is:
pg-Garland, Rubio, 2nd round pick
sg-Okoro, Sexton, Windler
sf-1st rounder, Cedi
pf, Mobley, Lauri, Wade, Isiah Mobley
c-JA, Love, 2nd round pick

What is the obsession with Isiah Mobley?

You don’t need to have all stars at every position to have a championship contending team.

If the team is no longer in lotto position off the backs of multiple guys ages 20 to 24 locked up for the foreseeable future the importance of high lotto picks is less and less important. That’s also a good sign that you hit on previous picks, not exactly a downside.

The difference between LeBron era 1.0 and this one is huge. We are winning because of 4 or 5 guys younger than 25, not 1 generational talent.

That being said, they need to hit on some late 1st round picks, something the Cavs with LeBron could never do. I trust this front office a hell of a lot more than that one to do just that.

I agree but it is going to be extremely difficult to compete for a championship without an alpha scorer like Lebron, Durant, Harden, Curry, Giannis, etc.

While I have no problem taking more of a traditional SF/wing, I have yet to see a game, especially since he returned from Covid, where Markannen was exposed or broken down in a way that makes me think hew can't continue to play SF if the BPA for us when we pick is more of a SG.

So to be clear, I'm not saying that we focus on a SG, but just that I think are silo is totally open to all types of SG/Wings/SF/Combo forwards.

Yeah we’re not picking top 10 anymore. We gotta look for some undervalued gems at the 2/3.

God I wanted Jaden Ivey so bad. Kid is electric.

I mean as a Purdue fan, that would be an awesome marriage

Wait, arent we retiring Eyenga's this week?

And how do you know we don’t have one of those on our roster right now? We’re being carried by a 20 and 21 year old right now who still have a ton of room to grow.

Especially with how Garland is starting to develop and how raw Mobley still is on that side of the ball. Shit, Sexton has been one of the best young scorers in the league the past few seasons. Scoring is nice, but those guys you listed out do more than just score.

Also, 2 efficient 20 point scorers who effect the game in multiple ways is better than 1 “alpha scorer”. Think they have that for the future moving forward with Garland and Mobley once he develops more offensively.

Yeah I did not watch much of him last year. He has a little d Wade to his game when d Wade was at Marquette. Not sure he will be as good ( probably not) but he seems like he has a bright nba future.

Any thoughts on Johnny Davis from wisc and the wing from Shannon Jr? Both seem like they'd have role players potential at guard/wing and are likely not lottery picks.

I don't know that anybody is obsessing over Isaiah Mobley. He'd be a second round pick, if he'd even be drafted at all. I doubt that I would use either of the high SRPs (the Houston and SA picks) that the Cavs currently own on him.

But the idea of Isaiah to the Cavs makes sense on a number of levels:

1. The family, Giannis/Thanassis, "keep the meal ticket happy" line of thinking. If having his big brother around is another item that keeps Evan happy and that much more likely to commit to the Cavs long-term when that time comes, I don't think using the #15 spot on the roster to do so is that big of an ask.

2. Isaiah comes from the same family background as Evan. Same solid family foundation, same teaching by his hoops-coach pops growing up, etc. That should carry over to the Cavs. We want as many coachable players as we can get, from 1 through 15.

3. Isaiah has had a decent career at USC. It's not like we're advocating somebody who can't hoop. He'll have three years of college experience at a major program, with a number of big games and tournaments in there, and he's done pretty well. Again - not "future star" well, but it's not like he's been chained to the bench for three years.

4. The Cavs could use another big man to develop, and a big man to maybe take a few minutes here and there.

Again - don't be fooled into thinking anybody is advocating Isaiah as a future load-bearing member of the roster. It's more like a "should this opportunity come the Cavs' way, they could do a lot worse than Isaiah as the 14th/15th guy on the roster" thought process.

I bring in Isaiah just to keep Evan honest in practice. Is there any greater motivating force than an older brother who just won’t shut the fuck up? NO.

*My* "obsession with Isaiah Mobley" has to do with everything @AllforOne stated *and* the fact that it makes more sense to spend that roster spot on him than Nembhard, Pangos or Valentine. He'll, other than selling tickets, he'd provide more on a 2-way deal than Tacko, too.
