2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
We need a 2 desperately - it's just blind faith at this point to believe that Okoro is going to get it and be playable on the offensive end.

Top shooting guards per tankathon:

5 (overall prospect) - Jaden Hardy
8 - Jaden Ivey
13 - Dyson Daniels
15 - Benedict Mathurin
19 - Max Christie
26 - Terrence Shannon
32 - Ochai Agbaji
33 - Allen Flanigan
36 - Jonny Juzang

If things stay the way they are, I think Max Christie would be my pick; assuming he's a legit 6'7+" by the time the draft happens.

This class is so underwhelming. Both in terms of top-end talent and depth. Jaden Ivey is the only guy I'd bet on becoming a star. He's well-rounded with top-tier athleticism and he has that it factor in terms of aggressiveness, excitement, and will to win. Banchero imo is a one-dimensional tweener/isolation jump shooter a la Jabari Parker, plus he has serious sweating/hydration issues. Holmgren might be skilled for a big but he doesn't have the frame to play against NBA-quality bigs on either end or the functional-level skills to operate consistently from the perimeter in the league. Hardy is a grossly overrated and frankly boring prospect, and I can't believe he's ranked so high. Baldwin Jr has red flags in terms of character and effort on the court, but he's also athletically limited without being that skilled either. Jalen Duren is a foul-prone, low IQ, poor effort, raw big who shouldn't even be a lottery pick. I like Jabari Smith, as he would probably rank 2nd on my board, but even he is likely more of a great glue guy than a star. Like Keegan Murray's game, but his age caps his upside, so I'd probably put him 3rd because I think high-level role players (look at Mikal Bridges) are still very valuable.

Even around our range, not liking Max Christie at all. Caleb Houston has been super disappointing. As has Peyton Watson. AJ Griffin isn't even getting rotation minutes on Duke and might stay another year. I might honestly be inclined to just roll with Nikola Jovic or Julian Champaignie, the latter of whom isn't the most exciting prospect out there but could actually be a great fit for us given his shooting ability and decent size on the wing.

I, respectfully, disagree completely. I have concerns about Banchero (health), Holmgren (physical makeup and punchable face), Hardy and Duren being generational talents like Lebron, Duncan, Shaq, etc, but I think you'll have plenty of guys that can be top 2-3 players for a franchise, and even more guys that end up All-Stars and top end role players. I'd guess there are at least a dozen guys from 2022 that average 20ppg for at least 1 season.

Terrence Shannon Jr.

Currently shooting 44% from 3.

I think the Cavs come away with a good player where ever they draft.

I know absolutely nothing about Kofi Cockburn other than his name is a surefire hall of fame type name. I'm okay with drafting him on this alone. Get all the centers right?

Would very much be in favor of using one of 2nd round picks on Kofi to have an enforcer to help our slight big men… that last name is just an added bonus.

Kofi would be decent value, but he's easily counteracted by antibiotics, so pass.

So Isaiah Mobley has started doing this since the second half of last season, but he's trying to expand his game to do more of the things he'll need to do to make it as a backup big in this league. Smart player, good on the boards, doesn't try to do too much, and he's actively stretching his range out to 3. If we go get him a large part is obviously because of his connection to Evan, but I wouldn't feel too bad playing him off the bench if we had an injury to one of our starters. We could do (and are doing right now) way worse with our end of the bench bigs.

Davis is playing really well. He reminds me of Danny Green but he can actually dribble. If he keeps playing like this he should find himself in the top 20. Not a bad fit on the Cavs at all.

The kid from Arizona is sadly playing his way out of the Cavs range. He is playing like a top 10 to 12 pick right now.

If the Cavs keep all 3 picks the chances of landing two rotational players are not bad if they do their HW. This is a deep draft in terms of functional role players. The guys at the top have some real question marks. So it's actually a great year to have a pick in the 10 to 20 range for a young team.

Still plenty of time for guys to show growth too.
