2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Isaiah Mobley is going to be one of the second round picks if he's there for the Cavs I feel.

Their bench is lacking a bruising big type to backup Allen.

He might actually go late in the first round I think. He's taken a leap since last year, intriguing prospect. 40%+ career shooting percentage from 3, on a reasonable number of attempts (weirdly, his free throw percentage is low though).

Don't mind it all fuck it... I love the Mobley family.. the more the better.

Continue to really like TyTy with our 1st.

Give us a creator / shooter / defender at the 2.

Can run the offense when Garland is off.

Just really like what I have seen out of him and how he fits this roster.

Oh, for sure...

His advanced stats point out to a lottery projection...do you think he is going to be there?

The name TyTy kinda pushes him out of the lottery imo...

I think there's a chance he goes in the lottery.......but he also lacks the more robust scoring markers you want from a PG.

In the Cavs case, that is a good thing. If he did have those more typical PG scoring metrics, there's no chance he'd be there outside the lottery. The Cavs may have to maneuver slightly to get him......but a very attainable guy for where they pick.

He's just such a unique prospect to me. Really tough to find combo guys who also excel off ball like he does. He's so active relocating and cutting......and his off ball IQ is what stands out to me when I watch his film. Surely he can create on it.......but guys that can do both are just so interchangeable.

Also a really sneaky rebounder for a guard.......which can bleed in to more transition opportunities......and his film there is also really strong.....either finishing against recovering players or by kicking it out for those secondary transition looks to trailing or spotted up shooters.

There are several swingmen who are older than 20 who are being mocked to the early second round. Champagnie is one of them.

I want the Cavs to hang on to at least one of those high second rounders in this draft for a project small forward.

He doesn't fit the bill as one of those older wings devalued due to age, but my project wing sweetheart in this draft is Gabriele Procida from Italy. Not going to pretend to have heavily scouted him and watched actual game film or anything, but the normal google and youtube stuff tells me he's going to be the greatest Italian player of all time, and maybe even the greatest player of all time.

6'7, 19 years old, shoots the shit out of the ball, and weirdly for an awkward looking lanky Italian kid, also dunks the shit out of the ball. He's probably the most "deceptively athletic" guy I've seen since Chase Budinger. Or Caruso, but I just wanted to reach back a little further and reference the ginger Jordan. I think my favorite part about him is that from videos and scouting reports, he seems to be absolutely lacking in conscience when it comes to taking threes, launching them with impunity even with a defender in his face. I unironically want more of that on this team--provided it's somebody who can actually make them at a decent clip, of course.

If I were Koby for a day.......my ideal draft board would end up falling something like:

21 - TyTy Washington
33 - Julian Champagnie
38 - Isaiah Mobley

Everything I have seen thus far will keep me entrenched in this camp until further notice. :chuckle:

Thing that will keep TyTy down late in the lotto is he is weirdly old for a true freshman. He is as old as a few Juniors in this projected draft class.

Yeah, he has a few of these fringe things that will probably wrongly suppress his value. One being age. Another being size. He's going to likely measure slightly undersized for a SG.......which to me, looks like his natural position.

The Cavs have such a built in advantage there now with Mobley and Allen, as they can easily float an "undersized" guard, especially one with the profile TyTy has. I watch his film and he just looks about as NBA ready as an off ball combo guard comes. Good analytics. Good shooting markers. Good defensive markers. Just really love his profile more than anything.

Think they'd have to move up to get him, but the fit is certainly intriguing.

The wing depth in this draft, more so with the wide range of skillset in the wing depth, still has me licking my chops for a 6'6 to 6'9 guy.

But man, those 2 2nds I hope they don't move off of them for anything aging at the deadline. With how many teams are lacking cap space heading into the 2022 off season I think they can package both and move up into the mid-20s for another pick in the 1st with teams hunting for non-guaranteed deals just in case.

But the Cavs have the ammo to move up into the late lotto as they stand at the moment, IMO. Early 20s pick, 2 2nds projected to be high picks in that round, and teams like Atlanta, Boston, Denver floating right around that late lotto who are cash strapped and without cap space heading into next season is a perfect storm.

Harrison Ingram anyone? He's not a super athlete but he can do a bit of everything and seems like a really high IQ guy. Could easily see him being a 4th or 5th starter that fills in the gaps and is a plus on the court as a secondary or tertiary ball handler who fits within a scheme.
