2022 NBA Draft Safari

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I dont want AJ Griffin. We can learn from MPJ on this...injury history is something I trust. I don't want to risk wasting our pick on that. Defense and playmaking not enough for what we need.

Similarly, not at all enthused by Johnny Davis. He is going to be a bust if he goes in the lottery

I was super high at first on AJ when he came in clearly not at 100% after the injury and was money from deep. I thought if he's this good from 3 already, how will his game look once he gets the athleticism back? But... It never quite happened and he remained just a high level catch and shoot role player.

Is he damaged goods at this point? Really scary risk for a top half of the lottery pick.

I would be thrilled to get Malaki Branham and Leonard Miller in this draft...

Branham is likely going to be below average defensively. His lateral movement is not great at all. But on the offensive side he can develop into a reliable scorer.

I don't think we have to worry about the defense as much, even though this is a defensive orientated team. We need some offensive production so as long as he is willing to play team defense, I think he should be fine.

I really feel for him. You can see he's a smart player with good IQ, and great tools but he has to compensate for the sapped athleticism so much.

If it doesn't come back at least a little, he's going to really, really struggle defensively.

Just sad always when injuries rob you of things you had before. Hope he has a long career.

I’d take that draft any day of the week & twice on Sundays!

I have this sneaking suspicion the Cavs have earmarked that second 2nd round pick for Isaiah Mobley.

I didn't watch him in HS, but everyone says that he was a dominant, above the rim athlete. Now he really struggled on defense as a freshman and even at the end of the year, he had to make do with an array of below the rim fakes and fades when he did drive. If he could just get that athleticism back with a clean bill of health, easy top 5 pick in my book. But he may still go in that range as is and that's a scary proposition.

Scary I agree. I actually think he will end up sliding a bit down after the athletic limitations are seen by the teams, although maybe private workouts will showcase his ceiling better so that could position him upwards.

Some team will take a chance on his athleticism coming back to some degree though I would think.

Seems like Eason is really trying to sell himself and move up. You don’t hire the broom guys unless you’re doing that. Wish he would just stay home and trust in the Cavs to pick him lol.

Is this just wishful thinking, or is this draft really deep? Not sure if I am over analyzing because of hopes for our pick, but it seems like there are more good prospects in the teens than you normally see. Maybe it’s not quite as strong at the top but it seems like there are a lot of good players

My feeling is that the top end of this draft is pretty shallow, only 3 guys who's ceilings project into All-NBA (Smith, Chet, Paolo). But the middle order is pretty good. We can expect a lot of guys in the 5-18 range to be low level All-star or long term starter types. The draft just falls off a cliff after 20 or so though, whereas the last few years you saw guys down til 30-45 that looked like they could at least be 7th-8th men types.

If we can get a low level all star who is a true two way player at the SF or large shooting guard type position that would be transformative for this team. Without that I question the ceiling of this team even with our very young big three - that well rounded SF type is just too crucial for modern teams to win with

If Johnny Davis is there at 14, do the Cavs pick him?

I've been seeing more and more mocks where he's slip sliding down to the teens.
