I hope jbb is going legit 10-12 deep in the regular season every game. There's no need for anyone to play over 33 minutes, not one game during the regular season. We have very good depth.
There will be situations... higher stakes regular season matchups, experimentation of potential playoff rotations, an overtime game here and there... where some of the younger guys may be in the high 30s minutes played, but goodness, I agree with you.

Hoping the regular season rotation is increased as opposed to what we were seeing last year.

It could limit it. It's just as likely to enhance it. Which one would happen would be dependent on how expectations are communicated, implemented, and accepted or not accepted by all parties (but mostly by Lebron).

I worry about Mobley's development the most if Lebron came back. LeBron has the tendency to dump what he doesn't like to do on players a position up or down from the one he is playing. Also Mobley has yet to solidify what exactly he does best which I worry if he will have the flexibility to find that if LeBron is back.

So a question with bringing LeBron back….a poster stated that his teams have always improved when the ball is in his hands. If that’s true wouldn’t that negatively impact DG’s development at PG??

Well, when our main guys were hobbling at the end of the season, and when it seemed obvious he needed to give some minutes to the bench guys, he shortened the rotation. And he was very confident in doing so. We were not as deep but we still had guys who could play. And we were quite desperate for energy. So, I’m not holding my breath. When JBB figures out who he likes, they’re gonna get all the minutes. With some random unexplained appearances from Stevens/Cedi/Windler I’d guess. I hope Luke Walton has a lot of power on this coaching staff.

Well... leaving alone the fact that it's not smart to judge the value of something by how much other people seem to want to take it from you... I'm not privy to what's been offered outside of what various mouthpieces have printed.

This is literally how value is defined in every economics textbook though.

So is LeBron coming back fer shure?

No in fact I’d say the odds are still against it

I think it would be a good thing if he did though. Even worth giving up a FRP or two

This may be true; I'm weak at economics. I mean, i know that the services players provide have monetary value, but are we running a Starbucks or are we trying to put together a championship team?

I see your point though.

Lebron is one of the smartest players in NBA history -- I think he is perfectly capable of fitting in on a team and playing a role. People worry that he changes the teams that he plays on, becomes the center of the offensive game and messes up the flow of the game -- but at least up to this point in his career that has always been the best decision for the team...

Stepping into a team at midseason and playing a reduced role is entirely within Lebron's abilities - and it's relatively in line with his personality (he is not Kobe or Jordan in that regard). He has never needed to do it in the past, but that doesn't mean he can't.
If LeBron was traded to the Cavs in mid-season next year he would be ALL about bringing another Championship to Cleveland. He would NOT insist on being ball-dominant and for 40 games plus the playoffs he would not screw up Mobley's career. I can't believe some of the takes I'm reading.

LeBron would be thrilled to let Garland run the offense. He doesn't want to play point forward or whatever. He would be an awesome secondary creator, just like Rubio was last year when he and Garland had the highest on-court +/- of any combination in the league. LeBron would be a supersized Rubio. Allen, Mobley, Markkanen, and others would be in hog heaven with two distributors like DG and LBJ on the floor.

LeBron beat the Warriors, who had the best regular season in history, in 2016. He got help from Kyrie and Love, but do you know who the next four highest minutes on that team were? J.R. Smith, Tristan Thompson, Delly, and Schumpert. This season, in addition to LeBron, Love, and Garland, we would have Allen, Mobley, Markkanen, LeVert, and Sexton. See any difference?

The Cavs were 1.5 games out of first place last year at the All-Star break. Let's say they take that team and add LeBron, LeVert, Sexton, and Agbaji. Where does that put us?

It comes down to where the Lakers are at the trade deadline next year. If they're in the thick of it, LeBron isn't going anywhere. If they are still in 11th place, Westbrook is struggling at age 34, and AD is hurt again, what do you think LeBron wants to do? Play 40 meaningless games in LA or go to Cleveland for six months and win another ring?

He would not have to uproot the family and move them to Cleveland. And he still owns a fairly nice home in the area.

Would he give up a great shot at another ring just so he breaks the scoring record in a Lakers jersey instead of a Cavs jersey? Don't make me laugh.

The Lakers would not be in a position to ask for much. They would be losing 40 games of LeBron in a non-playoff season. They might lose ticket revenue, but they wouldn't have to pay half LeBron's salary. They would save a ton of money.

Offer them a young player like Okoro and a draft pick. Maybe rights to the Australian guy we just drafted. They need young bodies. If LeBron wants to stay in LA he can sign with them after this season. We would just be renting him for the second half and the playoffs.

I don't see any reason not to do it, unless the Lakers are in the playoff hunt or LeBron is injured.

Literally the only problem with this scenario is that it's unlikely to happen

Let's say LeBron does not sign the extension and the Lakers continue to experience AD injuries and Westbrook diminishing skills. At the halfway point next season the Lakers are back in 11th place, right where they ended up last season. Would they be motivated to trade LeBron or let him play out the rest of the season, missing the playoffs, and then letting him potentially sign elsewhere with no compensation?

Duh.

Meanwhile, the Cavs, with better injury luck next year, are in 2nd-5th place in the East. This is not unrealistic. At the All-Star break last year they were 29-19 and 1.5 games out of first.

How about trading Love (to balance the money), Okoro, and our 2024 first round pick (which will be very late in the round), for the last 40 games of LeBron's 2023 season?

We get LeBron right when Rubio is coming back. Instant Championship.

The Lakers get Okoro (or Wade, Windler, or Stevens, whoever they prefer) and a late first for 40 games of LeBron in a non-playoff season.
i think anyone who follows basketball konws kevin love does not fit this team.....lauris abiliity to play both the 3 and 4 wiht spot five makes love obsolete.....the cavs need a 30+ minute SF that can shoot the three to create spacing for garland, sexton, lavert and mobely.....this playoff boxscore is just fukn horrible.....and there is nothign to suggest that anything will change should lauri, mobely and allen all enter the playoffs healthy.....
