Our offense is anemic when we can't make 3s. There's 0 creativity. Our rebounding has also fucked us over and over again. We've got a coach who hasn't enforced fundamentals.

I knew LeVert wasn’t good. I just didn’t realize how not good he was until I saw it myself. Mediocre chucker with no floor vision at all.

Plus the injuries.

I wouldn't say LeVert has no floor vision. He actually is pretty good at finding the open man. The problem is he has no focus to his offensive game. He has no clue where his best shots come from. He just seems to try to get himself open and takes the shot, no matter where on the floor it is.

I don’t see any moves to get this team into the top 8 next year. I think it’s a lotto team again. We need a two way wing and a new coach badly. Those don’t grow on trees. Lottery team for the foreseeable future. Bookmark this post.
This is such a ludicrous take that I dont know what to do with this. Yes, we need a two way wing and I'd like a new coach. Those are things that can be easily found this off-season. Alvin Gentry, MDA, even SVG are all right there.

But claiming this is a lottery team next season is asinine. This team, when it wasn't ravaged by injuries, was a top 6 team in the East THIS season. While we started to tumble, the massive collapse didnt happen til our defensive anchor and 3rd best player went down for a month. The core guys will be better and stronger next season. We will make moves to improve the team. We will have a lottery pick coming in this year. Sexton will be back and play more than 9 games. The NBA better watch out, because the Cavs are coming for you. The east still runs thru Cleveland.

The definitive difference between LeVert and Sexton. If the Cavs get a legit wing or even continue running Lauri with Allen/Mobley, Sexland will work. They can't trap DG the way they do with a guy who will actually find his spot and score.

Well, now that the pick is coming back, I hope the basketball gods give the Cavs the "Lakers Special", aka the 4th pick.
But if it ends up being the damn 14th pick, then.... I dunno. Pack it up with whatever they can muster and see how they can improve.
I'm hearing a lot of Jovic talk, also Dyson Daniels from Ignite (IIRC didn't he play in the Rising Stars game). Young guy...

The long wait begins.

There's also Agbaji from Kansas, which I would totally be down for for his 3-and-D potential. Might be a guy that could be a strong option on the wing.

The long wait begins.

Cavs need to learn how to get to the foul line. Garland and Levert do a lot of dribbling to combine for 4 FTAs.

Sexton is such a massive wild card. Can he play efficiently within a Garland dominant offense? Is he just a microwave 6th man? Is he just a good numbers on a losing team guy?

Unpopular opinion, but you aren’t a serious contender if Jarrett Allen is your 3rd best player. This team needs a dynamic wing so badly that it’s not even funny. I’m not sure hunting for 3 and D guys is enough.

You absolutely can be a contender if JA is your third best player. Allen was a legitimate All-Star this year and today didn’t reflect how he’s been most of the season. The fact of the matter is Allen has been our second best player most of the season, and not too far behind Garland. If Mobley can develop to become our second best player. And if Garland can further improve as well to actually solidify himself as a perennial All-NBA talent. And if we actually get decent wings. Then this team can seriously compete in a couple years. We might also need to get a new coach along the way.

I agree going for only 3+D wings isn’t the move. We need at least one more dynamic perimeter player in the starting lineup. But I don’t think it needs to be a star player. Rubio was killing it with our starting unit, so we just need another elite role player like that. And then the other wing can be more 3+D.

This take discounts that Kyrie didn’t play in half of the Nets games, and that Atlanta had a bad start to the year, and that Chicago also had a bunch of injuries.

You can easily see those three ahead of Cleveland next year. Then you add MIL, BOS, MIA and PHI and you are the 8th seed battling with Toronto and Charlotte.

The Cavs are a lottery team until they are not. The Regular season doesn’t mean a thing.

The Cavs have talent but they have a bad coach. That is what worries me the most. I agree with you there.

Current Levert seems the type of player you can find on numerous teams around the league, an ineffecient scorer frustrating the life out of fans and teammates with the odd flash of something more to keep the grift going. . Maybe he has been carrying an injury, might improve, but he is not a player to build around or invest a significant contract in.
