2022 Post-Season | Wild Card Series | Rays @ Guardians | Oct. 7-9, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Funny thing is, I was also at the ALCS game against Baltimore in ‘97 when we won 1-0 in 11 innings.

This is more Tony Peña than Tony Fernandez but cool you were there

Congratulations to the Guardians' pitching staff for setting a major league record for most scoreless innings in a playoff game - 15!

Granted, the Rays are somewhat below average offensively, but everybody in their lineup is capable of hitting the ball out if you make a bad pitch. The fact that the Guardians staff got 45 outs without giving up a run or even an extra base hit surely qualifies as the greatest pitching performance by one team in playoff history.

They had a little help in the field from Straw and Jose, but a 15-inning shutout might not take place again the rest of this century, especially with the shift being eliminated starting next year.

Too Cool !!!
The thing is this is the youngest team in Baseball. They have already played and destroyed division foes in the last month to win the Division
They just won a playoff series
And now they play NY. Experience and hunger will be gained by playing in the bright lights and national TV. This team win or lose will gain a lot in this next week.

It is Best of 5. We have three solid starters. Bieber and Tmac are pitching ar elite levels and we have the best bullpen in baseball and certainly the Best Closer

NY has been coasting the last couple months.

I like our chances !

The value of the experience these kids are getting and will get as the post season continues can't be measured, but will pay dividends down the road.

Until this week the only player with much playoff experience was JRam. Amed and Naylor had played two games. Hedges had one pinch hit at bat. Maile had two.

Bieber had made one start. TMac and Quantrill had one relief appearance each.

Agreed, but experience is overrated. Insert Jake Taylor gif.

Wooooo

You fuckers are awesome! May need to go hiking a lot more. Looks like I missed an amazingly exciting game

My parents were at the Peña game, and upon further research, I was at game 4 of the ALCS, not 6.

My bad, I was 9. My memory is hazy. I just knew we won on a walk-off :chuckle:

That is horrible, how can we believe anything you say. I remember everything about being 9, lol

My freshman year college roommate and I were in the stands for the Tony Peña game, also known as the Albert Belle biceps game.

Shirts off shouting in the cold October rain all extra innings. Best baseball game I've attended.

Was 13 for Peña game. Count was 3-0 and he absolutely should not have been swinging.

Those guys are human too and they want that shit over with. Moreso, it’d be cool to be the hero. Dude just happened to smoke one and was. He’s still legend now.

Sox top hitters were totally befuddled by Tribe pitching in that series after that. I think they went like 3-30 or something.

It had all the excitement of someone tying a cinder-block to your ball-sac and threatening to throw the cinder-block off a rooftop. Then, after 14.5 innings, that someone gently untied the cinder-block and gave you your ball-sac back.

It’s the kind of excitement I’m USED to, but don’t LOVE, per se.

“Albert Belle biceps game”? Refresh my memory.

Where’s the Division Series thread?

Let’s get jazzed!
