2022 Season | Series #22 | Guardians @ Twins | June 21-23, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Does Minnesota have a lefty warming up? Seems like pinch hitting Palacios for Maile was the move (or for Clement if they could figure out the defensive changes).
Seems like a better move would be dealing for a C that doesn't surprise us when he gets a hit. Just saying.

That is true.

And the board was nearly unanimously for trading Amed.

And a majority wanted to trade Plesac.

And a majority thought that Arias should have replaced Gimenez in spring training.

We wouldn't have a winning record if the fans had gotten their way, let alone be leading the division...which BTW....very very few thought was a viable goal.
Often I disagree with what you post and sometimes I completely agree. Having said that, what you stated here makes you appear as if you are full of shit. You have no clue what the results would have been. Maybe this team could have been even better than it is right now. There's just no way to know. It's a pointless conversation that has no conclusion based on actual facts.

Amed is getting dealt. If you can't see the writing on the wall that doesn't bother me one bit. The only question is when? Will they wait until the offseason or will it happen by the deadline this season?

How do you know Arias wouldn't have performed superbly? As I recall I think that most folks wanted Arias to replace Rosario who was complete garbage until recently, but it's your BS story so you can tell it however you want. Just don't be surprised when you're called out on it, as you frequently are.

This team is going to be nuts next season, man. I just can't get over the rebuild post pandemic.

Add in Espino, Naylor, Gavin, Valera, and say Freeman/Rocchio/Arias in the Clement spot but getting more time.

One of those 3 IF's on the bench is super IF you ask me. Like, yeah, you'd want those kids playing everyday, but being on the bench and ready to perform in the bigs isn't the worst thing. The team is just better, injuries, cycling guys in and out is a real thing.

Gimenez, Rosario, 1 of the Rook's is a great problem.

Oscar, Valera, Straw, Kwan is a wonderful problem.

Naylor/Hedges is a great platoon.

Miller is the super utility guy/PH when you need a guaranteed sac fly.

Team is going to win for a long time still.

Cleveland baseball since Tito is amongst top of the charts league wise.

Baseball is a crazy game. Win 11-10 less than 24 hrs before losing 1-0. They aren't going to win them all and there are positives to take from each game:
1. Plesac pitched phenomenally today so kudos to him.
2. If Reyes bat comes around his occasional defense in LF will be acceptable. I still think he needs to condition himself better prior to the season.
3. Adding a good/consistent hitting C would still make a world of difference to this current team.
4. DLS is a bad mofo.
5. Despite today's loss this was a great road trip and we're still leading the division.

What happened on Franmils dash to home was that he didn't do his job, a particularly simple exercise taught at every level of baseball from 7 yrs old up.

With the bases loaded and one out he had one job....run like hell on a ground ball. Nothing else matters. Nothing that happens behind him...nothing that Urshela does...nothing.

This is the first time that I've ever seen Tito look pissed. This wasn't some rookie. This was a veteran.

**********

If you study the FO and Tito over the last ten years, its not that hard to figure out their ways of thinking...if you take the time do so. Why did they do this? Why did they do that?

Heck, the reasoning for trading and acquiring in most situations could be painted on a billboard.

They weren't gonna trade Bauer until they got exactly what they were looking for...

1) MLB ready RH power bat with contact skills.
2) MLB ready LH SP.
3) Low level MIF prospect.

Same thing with Clevinger...

1) MLB ready power bat with contact skills.
2)MLB ready SP....didn't matter which hand, since they just acquired two lefties.
3) Upper and/or mid level MIF prospect.

My immediate knee jerk reaction...which I disgustingly posted...to the Lindor-Cookie trade was...nothing but a salary dump.

Until I investigated Gimenez and Amed, both young, both with some MLB experience, both fast...and both higher rated as MIF prospects than anybody we had at the time or today.

The FO leaves a trail bread crumbs. You just have to follow them.

The same with Tito.

Almost every close game we play is followed by a litany of complaints about his lineups, his use of pitchers, and his situational decisions...although he, too, has left a trail of bread crumbs.

Probably 90% of the in game decisions that Tito makes I agree with. The rest I make an effort to put myself in his shoes and get into his head. Most of the knee jerk reactions to what I did not agree with end up being wrong.

And yet, almost every year, the Indians/Guardians have among the best second half records...records driven in part by decisions made weeks and months earlier.

Our record in extra innings is 6-2. In one run games its now 12-9.

Somebody is making a lot of right decisions, and none of them are on this forum.

Anybody want to handicap the contest for AL MOY?

Then don't be surprised when you are called out my friend...lol.

Nobody KNOWS what a prospect or player....a relief pitcher or pinch hitter...will do, but there are always signs. And the signs allow us to establish our own personal odds of what will happen.

If you are betting that Arias is gonna be a better player than Gimenez, you are betting very long odds.

If you are betting that Jones will be a better player than Kwan, you are betting long odds.

If you used to bet that Bradley would be a better option than Naylor....(nobody would have done that a year ago, even two years ago, huh?)...you were betting very long odds.

And don't move the goalposts. You insisted that Amed would be traded by the deadline. Do you still think that Tito and this FO are gonna replace our starting SS with an untested true rookie in the middle of a pennant race?

A common theme of this forum two months ago, even one month ago, was that this team could not contend for the division, and that winning a WC wasn't worth squat, so the FO should continue to trade off parts for more prospects.

Amed, Plesac, and Civale were the most widely suggested trade bait.

Raise your hand if you still want to scrap this season.

What did Tito do wrong?
Never mind. I said it myself: Kwan and Naylor need to play every day. Tito, as a HoF manager, should have known better.

Two nights in a row that he crapped down his leg. He’s not supposed to crap down his leg like Kilgore.

What you don't get is that it isn't about me betting on Arias. You rant and rave about this FO, what they're doing, and how they're doing it yet you fail to realize that they are extremely high on Arias. So which is it for you? Are you more in the know?

Funny you would accuse anyone of moving goalposts. That's all you do, and for what? To blow more wind in your sails? Take that stupid shit down the road bud.

The FO wasn't overly confident that this team could contend and basically refrained from dealing its prospects in order to move in that direction. If we're going to contend then it will be with what they have. In all honesty, there has been some outside influences that have allowed this team to work it's way toward the top of the division. It isn't all because of what the Cleveland Guardians have done.

Amed and Plesac were widely suggested trade bait because they are trade bait.

Nobody wanted to scrap the fucking season to begin with. Jeesh! Talk about moving the goalposts.

Our own insider has said the game plan is to move him, if not this trade deadline, this off season. Time to get on board with that reality.

Just catching up: so we had bases-loaded, nobody out, in the 7th, and Tito lets Clement, Maille, and Straw BAT, with Kwan and Naylor on the bench? Why on earth?

And there are two ground-ball forces at home in a row? Because some people can’t hit the ball out of the infield and others don’t run from the crack of the bat?

Now I’m SALTY. We could be 2 games up on these chumps.

I will be sorely disappointed if the fans don't show up in force this weekend.

First place team with a home stand against the Red Sox, Twins, and Yankees.

I really hope they have that place packed. This team is a lot of fun and they certainly deserve it. Would be nice to get an early playoff type atmosphere going.
...do not disagree with the sentiment expressed here...

Cleveland Guardians.. just don't generate the kind of demand for their product that you are expressing.. no ticker tape parades.... no airport arrival festivities.. no print media bonanzas.. no cyber "wave of interest/hits".. Information regarding the scores.. a 30 - 45 second group of highlights and a short unspectacular statement regarding the standings are about the extent the Guardians generate "excitement"..

Want a free bobble head?..

A tee shirt with _______________'s name on it?

It's a marketing model that also brings an enormous television and growing streaming audience.. and that's not nothing..

I assume if he pinch hit Kwan, Naylor or Palacios the Twins would have pulled Joe Smith and brought in Thielbar, the lefty. I still would have pinch hit Kwan for Clement, forced them to bring in the lefty, and even if he struck out Kwan he would have had to pitch to Maile and Straw since you have to face three batters.

But Smith did his job - getting two ground balls and a fly out.

I was thrilled to hear Buxton was out and then his replacement hit the game winning home run. Be careful what you wish for.

That's two straight games for Plesac with six innings and one run against strong teams. Very, very encouraging.

I am so tired of Owen Miller chasing pitches above the zone. He got himself out twice today chasing high pitches. He does it multiple times per game.

DLS and Stephan were awesome. The bullpen is really shaping up.

The guys showed they're human. But two out of three ain't bad, especially on the road.
