2022 Season | Series #25 | Yankees @ Guardians | July 1-3, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Worry about the playoffs when the playoffs come.

Winning a division title is a big deal.

Some fans believe that the only successful season ends in a WS win, but it doesnt work that way.

Baseball may end in a World Series, but baseball has always been about the long regular season race.

I know we have only won 1 game out of 6 against the Yankees. However, I would still like to send them a special gift.

My buddy has this great concept for a t-shirt:
On the front it says “Sick-wick” because he was such an awesome closer, and on the back a drawing of wickman barfing on the back of the mound before closing the game after walking a batter and giving up a hit.

Since Franmil has returned, he has been an absolute air conditioner...

Except when he hasn't.

He is batting .268 with an .863 OPS.

Thats almost inconceivable for a guy that has Kd nearly 50% of the time.

Hmmmm.... "great concept"(s) aren't what they used to be...

If Kwan didn't have god-tier level contact skills, he 100% would not be a major league player.

Those stats aren't being misused. They're accurate. Kwan is poor at what those stats represent. It just so happens that he never swings and misses and has a good eye at the plate.

Clement isn't one who swing and misses a ton either and he has been super unlucky. He is out there less than a 3rd of the time and what maybe will get about 250 PA this entire season. He isnt the problem right now... The problem is we have starters who have the same OPS as him in a sense. Go ahead and put other players in his spot and see how they do... I bet it won't be any better. His role sucks and it's hard to produce properly from it.

Miller and Straw stopped producing. Reyes hasn't produced much all season. We haven't had any production from our Cs... Clement is just around to give guys days off and be a Swiss army knife off the bench, nothing more. He does his role well, its others who aren't doing theres....

Cmon coach, you're better than this.

My argument is "If Kwan didn't have god-tier contact skills, he wouldn't be a major league talent."

Nobody is saying Clement swings and misses a ton. We're saying he doesn't have Kwan's level of bat-to-ball ability. I don't think there's an argument there. You agree with us, so instead you stand up a straw man to make a disingenuous argument.

The other part of your disingenuous argument is claiming that Clement isn't the problem. Nobody is saying he's the sole reason we're losing games. I'm just arguing that this current situation isn't optimal.

I'd prefer for us to move on from one of Clement/Miller getting consistent AB's at the major league level. I think they're both destined to be that utility bench guy. Miller has a better bat, Clement has a better glove. I don't like having them both up here, playing consistently, when we have other young guys that we need to churn through and get looks at.

I challenge YOU to think of a better shirt concept 7 beers in whilst watching Wickman.

Judgy McJudgerson.

A little bit of 2021-22 Cavs feels with this team. Surviving vs the strength of the schedule, performing more up than down, surprising games, surprising play, even exciting play, let's just hope the core guys stay healthy going forward. Great win even though it's only 1 vs the evil empire.

We are pretty much on the same page, so we agree with most things here...

People are acting like Clement is one of the problems, when he really isn't. You haven't been on as much so i dont know if you saw, but I have been asking for Miller to be sent down and someone up in his place. He still has some upside and I want him to get his mental issues fixed. Clement to me is perfectly fine in his role he is doing and I don't think we need to replace him. We need to find a bat to replace Miller in my mind.

I guess my argument is, Clement is fine as the last player on the bench. His bat is better than his numbers say so I like him in the plays a couple times a week role. I also pretty much stated that those numbers themselves don't say the true picture of a batter. Clement has pretty much the same numbers that way as Kwan, so always look at the whole picture. Now, Kwan has much better bat skills without a doubt in my mind, but Clement just isn't as bad as people are saying was really my argument there.

Miller needs to be sent down and he needs to right the ship. He is letting things get to him and it's showing. So have him take a step back and right it. Call up someone else to fill his role right now.

If we do swap down Miller who are we calling up though?

I don't follow the minors or even potential trades the way many here do so I won't even try to make personnel change propositions. All I can do is offer my opinion as an interested fan and observer. And what I see is a glaring problem on this roster that is a lack of effective RH batters. Clement and Miller are the 2 main culprits as of right now. Straw, Reyes, all our catchers, are next in line as current problems.

Clement is what, 26 years old? He's not a prospect, he's a placeholder. Miller is teetering towards becoming a liability. If the organization has any intention of competing this season, and of trying to make the playoffs, these 2 seem like the most likely areas of opportunity to upgrade to anyone who can be more effective. The catcher position is next. We're probably stuck with Straw and Reyes and hopefully those guys figure it out but they're next on the longer term list.

You don't put a prospect in at the end of the bench in a role where he plays only a couple times a week. I get we want an upgrade, but let's worry about the starters not a fill in guy ya know?

The problem still remains that we do not have a replacement for Clement in this org, unless we want to discontinue the development of either Freeman or Arias in order for them to sit on the bench and get at least two thirds less at bats.

As for Miller...unless we bring in a corner RH bat who can play 1B, we don't have his replacement.
