2022 Season | Series #40 | Guardians @ Mariners | Aug. 25-28, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I remember when David Wesley was laughably bad at basketball. He couldn’t even get shots off in pre-game. It was like he’d forgotten how to play.

This guy is David Wesley. There’s no reason for this.

And Straw is also the best defensive centerfielder in the league.

Since the break, we have played five playoff teams.

16 games, 12 on the road.

We've won 9 of 16. We've out scored those teams 53-46.

2 of 3 @ Tampa
2 of 3 @ Toronto
2-2 vs Houston
2 of 2 @ SD
1-3 @ Seattle

We are winning, because of elite run suppression.

Only one AL team in the last three years would not have made the present playoff scenario with one of the six best run suppressions in the league....last years Athletics.

Not giving up runs is just as important...maybe more so...than scoring runs.

No. Not giving up runs is no more or no less important than scoring runs. To suggest one is more important than the other is silliness. The best teams do both.

Bradley Zimmer is better than Straw at this point. That's how bad Straw is playing. There's no reason to pencil him into the lineup every fucking night at this point and no amount of defense can justify it. He's terrible and 99.8% of his putouts can be made by any of Kwan, Benson or Brennan.

Yawn

I remember when Mike Brown had a decent stretch as coach, mostly his defensive scheming vs the Pistons. But then people started to realize Cavs win in spite of MB, and he's not the answer at what we truly want to do. But some really believed in his defensive abilities at getting the job done. Team never achieved the main goal with Mike Brown.

Guardians win not because of Myles Straw, but they very well may lose because of him. He may save a run a time or two, but he damn sure isn't providing one.

Just as you don’t lose games giving up 0 runs, you don’t win any games scoring 0 runs too.
