2022 Season| Series #41 | Orioles @ Guardians | Aug. 30 - Sep. 1, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
All kidding aside, it is time for Naylor, Amed and even Kwan to step it up. OGonz, you better listen up too, even though I'm giving you a bit of a pass here.

Anything at the plate from our catchers, Straw, Miller, Palacios, Freeman, Benson.....Clement... Is a bonus..
It is September and they are fatigued, then you can add in the pressure of performing to keep the division lead. We're going to truly see something in Minnesota very soon. Won't say it's make or break, but it can be an indication. If this current team travels there, well, fuck.

JRam - may have to throw the team on his back again
Amed - hope he's done cooling off
Kwan - a little more aggression earlier in the count
Gimenez - I know you got this handled :)
Naylor - a bit more focus at the plate and a little less celebration prep... kidding.. but you might be the key here bub
Ogonz - just don't strike out... You were really patient on your initial callup, and it worked.

Everyone else - No errors, bonehead plays and flubbed sacrifices.
Tall orders, all around.

21 consecutive scoreless innings to finish out the series. OMG.

7 hits the last two games. Shut out three times in four games.

What happened to the bats?

13 of the 18 runs scored by the Orioles this year against the Guardians were on home runs. We scored 18 runs in six games. Now we get the Mariners who held us to 7 runs in 4 games last week and one was an extra inning run.

Maybe Valaika isn’t the bat whisperer after all.
Eh, it's baseball and we have the youngest roster in the majors or AAA. We're going to hit some rough patches. I wanted to see some bats added, we made a few changes but none of them panned out for much. Kwan and Amed seem to be in a bit of a funk compared to a month ago. Biebs giving up some dingers didn't do much for anyone between the ears. They'll all learn something from these experiences, hopefully.

Bradish's last start was against Houston and he shut them out on 2 hits for 8.1 innings. I wouldn't overreact. This kid may have figured it out. He had good stuff and was mixing it up and hitting his spots.

This is the Guardians, sorry. We are a fringe playoff team whose fans got excited when we went up by a few games in a weak-ass division where other teams got unlucky with injuries. Nothing more, nothing less. We need to get by Seattle with hopefully this one game lead intact to get back to where we may make some waves again versus 500 type teams or less -- not against the surging Seattle and Baltimore teams. We got lucky this season with guys like Kwan surging and no serious injury more than Civale. We are getting a bit unlucky now with 2 weeks of Seattle/Balt where Twins play the tanking NYY next week.

It's a game of ebbs and flows where Tito usually like vets who are more consistent to ride out some of the ups and downs of younger players. But, as a team, we are not going to win with Jose alone. We cannot win with a team that over the last 2 weeks, Kwan has hit .200, Oscar has hit .167 (.083 over last week) and Gimenez has hit .222. Right now they are so tight under this pressure that they are shitting diamonds. Before now, nothing was expected of them more than 3rd place.

And unfortunately for Tito, nothing is really available to use to get out of this ...

-- Miller and Straw should be your vets to ride through these tough times. But, sorry Miller was a super-utility guy for us at best and Straw was always a 3rd OF at best (didn't see him struggling so much though).

-- People were so excited about the possibility of Alex Call and his .375 OBP for us in his 1 week audition. Now he is .148/.207 and 1 HR with Wash.

-- Oh and we should have kept Reyes and he surged once he got to Cubs but maybe that was because he played Cinci and Wash once he got there. He is batting .208/.655 (BA/OPS) that last 2 weeks

Tito is stuck where he is going with the vets (should say older guys with 1-3 yrs of experience) more trying to win the division but long-term playing the rookies Freeman/Arias/Jones would be better long-term and as of this week would not have done too much worse.

Bradish was lights out/on top of his game.. tremendous outing by the young pitcher.. good pitching... even inexperienced good pitching shuts down hitting.. the end..

So please explain how Bradish was able to outpitch former Cy Young winner Bieber?

This team has done this multiple times over the season, a season which seems to go in patterns of offensive performance, and all of a sudden they are "choking under playoff race pressure". :chuckle:

Give me a break. This is what happens when your offense doesn't hit a lot of home runs or draw a ton of walks and relies on balls put in play finding holes or grass. The hits go away and runs are hard to find or string together.

It won't last though. Just like it hasn't lasted any of the previous 5 or 6 times they've had stretches like this earlier in the season.

Some of you have the attention span of a gnat. Either that or you get off on bad, reactionary takes (highly likely).

It’s all the impatient old men on this board who are worried they’re gonna buy the farm before seeing this team win a WS.

Ok Willis. (Only an old man would even understand the Willis avatar).
