2022 Season | Series #47 | Guardians @ White Sox | Sep. 20-22, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Tidbits:

The Guardians are on an absolute tear in the month of September. They lead the league in hits and have the sixth-best ERA in baseball for the month (3.01).

However, the Sox are also on a similar tear this month.

They've reverted back to their traditional ways at the plate, knocking 26 balls out of the park to lead MLB this month. They also have the second-best team ERA in baseball for September with a 2.52 ERA.

I feel like LaRussa held them back...

Cairo may be only an interim manager, but it was his fiery speech on his first day of the job, the players will tell you, that woke them up, perhaps just in time to save their season.

“He told us pretty much, 'If you don’t want to be here, then get the (expletive) out,'" All-Star closer Liam Hendriks told USA TODAY Sports. “It was eye-opening to some guys who really have never been told no.

“There needs to be repercussions. There needs to be some kind of a risk and reward. That was one thing that reverberated with some guys.

“The message really hasn’t changed at all for us this year, but it was a different viewpoint, a different verbiage, a different way of delivering.’’

Said second baseman Josh Harrison: “Let’s put it this way, you can tell your kids something, and they don’t listen. Someone else tells them the same thing, and they get the message. It’s put up or shut up time.

“Miggy has done a great job bringing energy to the team.’’

Should we be looking for an Ozzie Guillen choke sign from him, too?

Does he do contracting work on the side? I have 11 guys and a couple of coaches I would like him to speak to on the north shore.

Rocco on playing vs the Guards:

“To be a good player, you have to be able to relax in the field, but you literally have to be on your toes and the most alert you’re going to be all year long when you play them,” Baldelli said. “Everywhere you look they have guys who do things you don’t see much of in today’s game.”’

“Because of how they played, these games, they're fun, man,” Guardians manager Terry Francona said. “This is why these guys work so hard. And it's a first for a lot of them. That doesn't mean they can't do it.”

After this run of a handful of 1PM starts in a handful of days, an 8PM start seems unfair.

Any updates on when the game will start?

Rain out would have been awesome for us
