2022 Season | Series #5 | Guardians @ Yankees | April 22-24, 2022

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Sad when a karate kid pitcher wearing #97 shuts you down to end a game.

The definition of taken behind the woodshed this series

Expect a lot of this up and down shit. Wouldnt be surprised if this team goes 6-1 the rest of the way. Also wouldn't be surprised if they go 1-6.

Looks like the game yesterday will break us more than it brings the boys together

Let's not hope it's an emotional game like the Royals lost to Cleveland last season that seemed to have started their downward spiral.

We should be 9-6 or at least 8-7, that's a bit frustrating, but that'll even out hopefully

i know they finagled the schedule, but we're only playing 20 some games this season?

*Road trip smartass

Speaking in terms of them away on the road and won't be back until after 7 more games

So, I had to re-watch that Torres double where Mercado slid by the crowd by foul line ... it seems like a Seinfeld episode with the Mets ... you know the one ... tell me what you see (don’t think it was intentional but it isn’t beer foam as his beer didn’t move but mouth was open.

A moment before .... note beer was steady

Good pitching usually stops good hitting and that was the story of this lost weekend as the Yankees swept the Guardians by a combined score of 19-7. Taillon, Cortes, and Cole allowed a total of three runs in their starts. Jose was 1-for-11 as the Yankees staff, with the 3rd-best ERA in baseball, turned the G's bats from fire to ice.

Civale has got to be a concern at this point as he has been ineffective in each of his first three starts. His pitches have to be perfectly located on the edge of the zone or they get hammered.

The Yankee left-handed hitters teed off on Civale with two doubles and a home run in three innings. However, he was victimized by two bloop hits and two fly balls that were misplayed into hits. His ERA is now 9.58 after three starts. His fastball is clocking in at 90-91.

Hentges was pretty impressive, throwing two scoreless innings on only 22 pitches, 15 of which were strikes. He is quietly off to a great start with a 1.42 ERA.

McCarty showed why he is still in the minors at age 26. Right-handed hitters were 4-for-10 against him with two walks, two home runs, and a double. Lefties were 0-for-3. I think if he has a future in the bigs it has to be as a reliever.

Andres Gimenez had two hits today to boost his average to .345. He's also quietly off to a good start. Amed Rosario has just six hits in his last 38 at-bats (.158) and just one RBI. We need a lot more than that from the 5-hole.

Most of us didn't know anything about it since we don't follow the Dodgers...

And trust me, we all agree that guy needs to be banned and has to deal with legal ramifications...
This was like the day before, and yes, most do not see it because we do not follow them.

Yankees have a growing problem, though. Like above, we don't 'see it' because it is not in our news cycle. Over the last few years, we had yesterday with us, Verdugo getting hit in the back after throwing a ball into the stands for a fan to catch, and I believe it was against Tampa, where fans started throwing a lot of balls onto the field because of a slow start.

Boone needs to set an ultimatum with the fans: do this shit again, we will forfeit the game.

I wanted to bump up a couple of posts from back in April... during the series at the Yankees.
In retrospect, that BS after the Saturday April 23rd game might have been just what the team needed in the long run....

This was a bad loss.
The game was lost but due to what happened after, I suspect this season has been won..

You just witnessed these players rally for one another. You just witnessed the bonding & closing of ranks- CLE vs the world just became real.
