- A season-best 20 games of .500
- 24-6 in our last 30, since we were tied with the Twins at 68-64

I will try to take whatever else this team produces as a pleasant surprise.

(but probably won’t succeed.)

Guy who caught ball is a senior exec ata mutual fund company in NYC. Probably doesn’t need the money for retirement.
 
It's a wrap! Guardians finish 24-6 to win the Central by 11 games. Nobody saw that coming!

We're playing with house money now.
 
I grew up with a family of folks that lived thru the Depression and WW2, and all their friends of the same age.

Almost to a man...and woman...they could tell you exactly what they were doing when they heard about Pearl Harbor and FDRs death...and the place and time they saw Babe Ruth.

And, no, I never got his signature...but a wrapper from a hot dog he had eaten flew past within 25 feet of me.

Seriously, I used to play cards with several older folks, one of whom was about 70 yrs old. She told me that she had once danced with Babe Ruth. She had attended a wedding when she was 11-12 yrs old, and the Babe went to the reception. He walked over and asked her for a dance.

She said it was the biggest thrill of her life.
 
The Big Fella by Jane Leavy - excellent biography of Ruth - she has written others that are also excellent - one on Sandy Koufax and one on Mickey Mantle - The Last Boy
