May have been a little premature.

Two one-run games. Nice comeback in the nightcap. Stephan finally gave up an earned run.

What a pinch hit by Naylor. Down 1-2, having seen three 97+ fastballs he gets a changeup and drills it into center field.

Manny Machado can really hit but his glove is pretty suspect. He totally whiffed on that chopper and botched another play earlier.

Amazing escape by Sandlin in the 10th after walking a right-handed hitter to load the bases with one out.

Franmil looks better at the plate. Kwan's hit was sheer luck - a couple of feet either way and he's out, but it still would have got the runner to third with Gimenez up and one out. However, Kwan lined out to the third baseman earlier. That's baseball. I'm just glad the Guards didn't lose on a check swing double blooped down the third base line.

Hedges, Jose, Naylor and Gimenez had 2-out RBIs as the G's were 5-for-10 with RISP. A lot of good clutch hitting in the second game. Hedges was 2-for-3 with a walk. He's bearing down hard on the Mendoza line. I like Maile's bat more than Hedges, actually. He's 3-for-10 with a pair of walks.

After giving up three runs in the first Quantrill pitched five scoreless innings to keep it close and give his team a chance to come back late. I think he's the unsung hero of this game.

Why do the Padres have a .176 hitter batting cleanup between Machado and Hosmer? I'd have Machado hitting 2nd and Hosmer third.

Yeah, great to finally beat a winning team. Too bad it took 12 tries.

When we defeated the Royals on April 10th and 11th, that team held a winning record. That's 2.
When we defeated the A's on April 29th, they had held a winning record. That's 3.

This was our 4th win over a team with a winning record.

I mean, if we turn a team into a loser does that no longer count?

Well, I'm counting it!

Nobody, except me, ever agrees with Shaw coming into a close game.

But he, and his 2.57 ERA and 80% LOB%, keeps rolling along.
I have no qualms using Shaw in whatever situation is best. He's a very effective workhorse. They were talking about him having a new pitch. Sounds like it might be a split change. That could really make him outstanding.
