LeBron has a $51 mil option for next season. He’s not opting out to sign with us for a quarter of that.
Of course he won't, but it would be a great story if he signed here for the $12 million under the agreement that we will draft Bronny with our late (hopefully very late) 1st round pick. LeBron comes home, gets to play on the same team with his son, and wins one more NBA Championship before retiring.

Nobody could touch a lineup of Garland, Mitchell, LeBron, Mobley, and Allen. The passing would be incredible. Allen and Mobley would get bored with dunking 10 times a game. And the bench of LeVert, Strus, Wade, Niang, Merrill, Porter, and TT would be as good as any in the league. We'd blow teams out so bad Bronny would get to play the last six minutes of every game. And LeBron would only need to play about 25 minutes a game.

But I'm sure LeBron will go back to the Lakers. He needs the extra money. And I'm sure he loves the challenge of dragging the 9th place Lakers through the play-in tournament and getting that 7th or 8th seed this year.

I was simply asking that if in the event that LeBron wants to come here to win championships AND decide not to gut the team, then what would it take to sign him outright in Free Agency in the summer?

That sounds like a *nightmare*...the kind where someone says, "the killer is IN the house!"

Just to be whatever, but how F-ing lame is it to get drafted, not because of your skills, but because someone hopes to get a year or two from your dad. In that case, Bronny should just stop trying...just to see how sleazy teams can be. Like can Bronny get a big gut, never cut his hair, etc...i mean, his play this year hasn't exactly shown any world where he would get drafted otherwise.

I would argue he will might more money net doing so.. with this squad over the next three years even old ass LeBron wins 3 rings.. He likely gets to be the only player un history to win a ring playing with his son.. It would be a media circus for him..Which would translate into promotional value..

Mind you , I am not advocating this, but there are more ways to make money for him than an NBA salary..

IMO, we either sign okoro for 12.9, or we sign and trade him for a defense first 6"9 " 3/4 with a year or two on his rookie contract..

Exactly!

There are many intangible and tangible benefits besides salary if he and his son both come here and win a championship.

I literally would not watch. I'd take a break from the Cavs until he was gone.

I might even root for the Knicks.

Better that than feeling like a fan in constant need of a good gargling. Instead of the "Cleveland Cavaliers", we might as well rename ourselves the "Cum Chuggers", and put the Lido Lounge on our City uniforms.

The cavs are on the hottest win streak almost ever in the history of Cleveland sports and you have Rizzo and ESPN850 morning show talking about the Eclipse, Gaurdians training camp and the Browns still. No mention of the cavs unless Windy tunes in at 11am

They hate the Cavs or something

It is amazing, but the Indians/Guardians did 22 games in a row not too many seasons ago.

Of note is the following analysis :

Staggering has worked, as the Cavs have been ridiculously good when Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen have been on the floor without Garland or Mobley (plus-21.0 points per 100 possessions in 89 minutes) and when Garland and Mobley have been on the floor without Mitchell or Allen (plus-23.9 in 61 minutes) over the five straight games when all five have been available. The defense has been particularly good (94.6 allowed per 100) in those 150 total minutes

Three championships? Let's not get ahead of ourselves lol.

I don't know if your son being the 15th man really counts as winning a title with your son, and I don't know if 40 y-o LeBron winning a chip as not the best player even "counts" (in the GOAT debate that clearly is very much on his mind) as his 5th championship.

That being said, there certain is some capital involved in winning another championship and the feel good story of his back in Cleveland again to retire. If the Cavs are good, championship aside, it would certainly be the best farewell narrative that we've ever seen.

Either way, I don't want him to com eback. Let's keep going with this young core. Maybe I'm dumb, but I don't believe LeBron can stand not making everything about himself and his greatness, even at his old age. I also think he'd dominate the ball in a way that a 40 year old should not.
