After our last 3 games (losses to Magic & Sixers. Close win vs Bulls), there is a pattern developing as Mobley & Garland's minutes have gone up. We are not getting off nearly as many 3's and we're letting teams shoot a very high percentage from 3 against us. This was my fear a month ago. The problem I brought up in a past post is I didn't think Garland and Mobley were capable of playing our new, successful, style.
Hate responding to myself, but I’m lazy and don’t want to write the same thing again after our 3rd loss in 4 games

Dude, their minutes were already high when they beat up the Kings, Nets and Raptors. The role players are struggling, especially LeVert. Teams go through phases. Don't forget the Wizards slopfest either. I think it's mentally hard right now. Players aren't feeling it. They are sluggish and hesitant. Teams have adjusted to Merrill, who's shooting saved the Cavs when teams ignored him.

Dude, pay attention. We are reverting to the same team we were early in the season. Personnel and style go together

Nope. No reversion, simply poor play. It's a long season and things don't always stay the same. Your post is lousy and you can't admit many of the role players and rotational pieces are sucking ass right now. The funny thing is, if you give it some time, it assorts itself out.

It’s pretty clear we’ve played a different style the last two games… the 3pt attempts have been halved

oh come on. How Mitchell himself adds to 3 point shots and without him we still took 25+ 3's. We just missed them. Mobley with a -16.2 bpa.......one of his worst games ever. Even Allen looks gassed compared to January. Only Okoro is playing as well. No wonder with Mitchell we struggled the 2 games before the asb and you know it's part of the reason he isn't playing right now. He would have to work......might as rest up for the stretch while these guys look for a second wind.

I believe in this team, but I'm not gonna pretend that there aren't problems. 2 straight games with low 3 point volume is BAD.
And I'm not gonna blame JBB for that. The guys gotta get it together.

The positive is that Okoro is simply balling in a way that should make "real hoopers" happy. I am very much impressed by his passing and his eye for the court, while also providing that physical play that casuals say is absent from the team.

Cavs need more point of attack defense.

They need another "Dean Wade" like talent in the rotation.

And they actually need to use Dean Wade.

The "bad hombre" aspect of Niang I like. But he's been shooting well under the average he's had these last few years. Meanwhile Wade and Okoro are going up.

Only criticisms of DG I have is: pick up the pace, pick up the shooting.

I understand you can't play Sam all the time, but the guards as a group are bad at doing pick and pops. So many dudes break free from screens and the guard will choose to drive.

Something I’m curious about if someone can pull the data:

When Garland/Mobley were out, we were cooking with the Mitchell/Okoro/Strus/Wade/Allen lineup.

Has our brilliant head coach thought about trying Garland/Okoro/Strus/Wade/Allen with Mitchell out? Did that lineup get any run these past two games? Just seems like a logical thing to do if you are missing your other ball handling starting guard.

Just will never be a fan of LeVert.

He has nice games... sure.

But in 5 out of the last 7 games... he has scored 6 points or less. Last night he goes 1/11 and he shot 2/10 the game before that.

Just feel like a guy like CPJ would be far more productive but LeVert is the vet making bigger dollars.

Just a frustrating situation.

I'm gonna sound like an asshole, and I promise I don't mean to, but they didn't play twice yesterday. The wording just messed with my brain.

Edited

Also Caris LeVert messes with my brain.

Silver lining: I assumed the Cavs would hit some adversity before the playoffs. They weren’t going to just continue to steamroll teams and lose like 4 games until the playoffs start.

I’m glad they are hitting this adversity NOW rather than closer to the playoffs. Have these past 2 to 4 games sucked? Yes, Bigly. Do they have time to fix it? Yes. Way more time than if this adversity hit them in April.

I’m confident they will figure it out.
