Have to agree here, cannot expect the crop behind Cooper and DPJ to take some massive step when we have no evidence to suggest they will.

Need a GUY

I think there's a lot of room to work between "we need to upgrade WR3" and "we need to give up two draft picks and pay $29M over the next two years to upgrade WR3".

Like they could sign Hardman for half that over the next two years and not give up any draft picks, ya know?

I agree.

Cooks is #8 in the NFL in wide receiver base salary. In total salary in 2023, Cooper and Cooks would have made $32.5 million together.

Along with the Browns paying the second largest QB salary in the NFL, I don't know if that is a financially viable blueprint for creating a complete roster. They need to win at the financial margins somewhere.

I'm not arguing finances, I don't pay much attention to that stuff so I'm sure you're correct. I'm also well aware that money and circumstances could make it impractical for us to improve the position group from outside this year. Still, I see WR as a need and a very top heavy, thin, position for us right now. And IMO that could have an impact on our season and how Watson ultimately feels about his time here.we

If Tampa Bay wants to throw the Browns a fifth round pick for Harrison Bryant, both sides should be very happy. He has a rapport with Baker and will grab his two or three passes per game. Browns can use it to move up on day two. Hope it happens.

I would not mind seeing what OBJ has in the tank for the right price. He looked intriguing as a 3rd receiver for the Rams before the injury. If Stefanski and Berry do not mind him then I am not sure why people get so up in arms about OBJ. He's an insufferable person, but so was Baker and numerous other people on the Browns over the years. It might be a good buy low opportunity with someone who is very familiar with Stefanski's offense.

We are going to need competition to push Bell, Schwartz, Woods, and Grant because it is a steep drop in quality after DPJ and Cooper. Are the best remaining receivers Chark, Hardman, and OBJ or am I missing someone here?

Harrison Bryant for Mike Evans. You heard it here first!
