Allbright is a moron.

With that said, Brad Stainbooty is repeatedly tweeting about Jeudy. And he has been okay thus far. The Browns interest may be real and the more time passes, the less the asking price will be.

Allbright is pretty locked in with Denver and for some reason has Cleveland sources. I’d trust him over most right now with this potential deal.

I just don’t see the allure with jeudy. I get he has potential and flashes but his catch rate is really low. Especially for someone who’s gonna cost so much. There’s gotta be better options out there.

I feel like if Withers is even adding smoke, there’s a fire ablaze for sure.

Yep. He goes the extra country mile for confirmation. Jeudy added for the 42nd would have us in a frenzy.

Seems we are signing some guys that get good ST scores, but why the hell why?

Kickoffs: 95 to 99% are touchbacks

Kickoff Return: 5% are returned, and rarely do we ever see a return over 50 yards anymore.

FG's: who cares, ya just block.

FG block: who cares, you just line up and take it.

Punting: There is some value here, but how many punts do we expect to be returned next year? Above average offense should get us in range for a punt inside the 20, limiting returns.

Punt Return: some merit here, but that requires blocking only. Are these guys being graded on being excellent blockers?

*****percentages above are not accurate****

Help this make sense to me. Are Special Teams really this important in today's game?

Because Jets game.

I'm getting excited about Bubba Ventrone not just as special teams coordinator, but as a coach who will mostly work with the fringe and younger players. These signings give Ventrone an inside track to establish his voice.

Secondly, I feel like some of the youngest Browns felt too comfortable last season. How much of that poor start had to do with Summer Training Camp being a formality instead of a competition for roster spots?

Special teams are important, yes. Obviously not as much as offense and defense, but a lot of games can come down to the wire. 6 of our 10 losses were down to 1 score. 4 of those 6 losses were 3 points or less.

Punt and kickoff coverage helps with winning the battle of field position. How well is our punt coverage? Do we allow them to average 15 yards on punt returns, or do we stop them at a 5 yard average? Do we force turnovers on punts? When is the last time you remember us forcing fumbles and recovering them on punt returns? Same with kickoff coverage.

We're not about to change our roster at the starter or backup level to accommodate for better special teams. But the 3rd and 4th stringers? It can make a difference.

Where there is smoke there is fire with Jeudy..

I do wonder if a potential compromise would be a 3rd this year with a conditional pick next year, or 42 + Day 3 pick for Jeudy and high Day 3 pick.. I have a hard time placing a 2nd round value on Jeudy but the Claypool trade likely set the bar..

I like Jeudy and having him on a cheap deal this year and 5th year option next year helps but 42 feels a bit like you’re paying for pedigree instead of production…

Question: Would you trade 42 for DPJ?

DPJ to date: 109 rec, 174 targets, 1740 yards, 8 TDs, 1.56 Y/RR, 14.3 ADOT, 6.8 drop%
Jeudy to date: 157 rec, 269 targets, 2295 yards, 9 TDs, 1.89 Y/RR, 12.8 ADOT, 11.2 drop%

Wow. I'd rather have DPJ and that was before seeing this.

I know you acknowledge the percentages above are not accurate, but I'll point out only 60% off kickoffs result in touchbacks, which is certainly a far cry from a 95-99% rate.

Last year, excluding onside kicks, the Browns kicked off 79 times and 29 kicks were returned.

To counter your point for a good offense limiting punt return opportunities, a good offense would seemingly have increased kickoffs too

Last year the Browns punted 61 times (12th best) and only 26 punts were returned (12th best). However, they allowed 337 yards (25th best) giving them 12.3 yards/return (dead last). Their net average was 41 yards/punt, ranking 21st

Fans: "The Browns need to address WR and if they don't I'll scream!"

Browns: "We're pursuing Jerry Jeudy, a soon to be 24-year-old who is under contract for the next two years at less than $18M total and who also graded out as the best WR in the NFL last season against man coverage according to PFF and TruMedia."

Fans: "No not that!"

Jeudy would come in and be our best WR immediately upon impact.

He’s a stud and I believe a superstar WR masked by completely atrocious QB play for the entirety of his career.

Potential 90-1300 kind of guy.

Haven't you heard? DPJ > Jeudy

I don't think Jeudy is 1A, but he's certainly 1B tier (potentially wise).
