2023 Guardians Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Noel has a very high bust risk while Brito doesn't at the end of the day. Guys like Noel bust more than the succeed plus Brito is a switch hitter as well... Brito isn't near or at the last seven on the roster.
Yep, and Noel's upside is astronomically higher than Brito's even if he is much less likely to reach it, and yes he is. Pick 8 and tell me who they'd designate before him. This will be it for this conversation because you're dragging it down a rabbit hole.

Naw, I am just being honest... It wouldn't matter what I say since you have your opinion and in my mind your opinion is to far away from mine we won't find any middle ground here lol

You're not being honest, you're just being opinionated. You just like to come across as if your opinion is fact when indeed it's nothing of the sort.

Naw, it really doesn't matter what I say since your mind is made up, so I will leave you at that lol

Re "bust risk" - I have no clue how to quantify it but both of these guys have much more chance of "bust" than success. We're talking about a guy who has never played above A ball on one hand, and a weak defensive guy who has trouble hitting the ball on the other hand. If there was no bust potential they would be top 5 prospects in MLB. Clearly there's a huge chance that both do just that - completely bust.

Heavy power guys, with average contact or less skills have a way higher bust rate than a plus contact and plus eye type of hitter... That's not an opinion, that's honestly a fact...

Now to me a "bust" is a prospect that never really gets to the bigs/never becomes at least a bench guy for X amount of time...

Brito is a switch hitting player that is from the similar mold, to a Kwan, Brennan etc... Those guys almost always have way better floors, but not as high of ceiling cause the lack of power...

There are no sure thing prospects. Everybody has a chance to bust.

Over the past year this org has gotten rid of a bunch of busts who had 'high upsides', because they had lots of tools...esp power...and few, if any, skills.

One skill that Brito has demonstrated is the ability to put the bat on the ball. Its a skill that Noel has yet to master.

And the ability to put the bat on the ball is often the great separator between success and bust.
