2023 Guardians Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Welp, that sucks balls.

It does say 'could' miss up to 8 weeks. Everyone's body is different... hopefully he turns out to be ahead of schedule.

Now, who's the guy? Can we see a little of Gavin at the end of May?

IMO

1. Hunter Gaddis - sink or swim.
2. Pilkington - especially if we are facing a lefty heavy opponent.
3. Curry

I like the idea of Williams or Bibee even coming up quick if they are producing, but... It's time to fire up the grinder and chuck Gaddis and others in first.

I'll be honest

Our number 2 and our number 6 are both out right now...

I am guessing the depth chart right now is 7) Gaddis, 8) Curry, 9) Pilkington, 10) Allen, 11) Battenfield, 12) Cantillo, 13) Bibee, 14) Williams

Now I don't know if Gaddis will be kept in the pen or not...

Either way, someone is getting a promotion, we just don't know who yet...

It's going to be more of the question are we going to put TMac on the 15 or 60 day IL?

Going to be interesting to see how TMac's spot is filled. I'd guess Gaddis after his ST performance and already being on the 40 man, but Curry and Pilkington are on it as well. Pilkington didn't look as sharp this spring as I hoped he would have, but how much influence does ST performances have? He was pretty solid for the Guardians last season if that holds any weight.

Me, I say fuck it and get Bibee up here now. It's a perfect small window to see what he can do and he is certainly the most polished SP prospect we have. If any of our SP prospects can perform at TMac's level right now it would be Bibee.

Leon just got released! We can list him as a two way player so he can pitch and catch! Lol
Sadly, I think Sandy's days in Cleveland are over. Then again, maybe they pick him and Shaw up and it will be like olden times. After all, we made the playoffs with those 2 on the roster last year. Isn't that the logic some here like to use?

Bibee isn't going to be up in 23 more than likely... He can force their hands though, but right now he's at AA and not any higher (unless the TMac injury moves him up).

You're going to see Bibee before Williams. Bibee is as polished as Bieber was when he was promoted. High K's with a low BB and hit rate. Williams probably needs to cut back on the BB just a bit, but I think he could find success in Cleveland as well.

Bibee is going to see time in Cleveland this season unless he gets hurt or his performance dips and there's no reason to predict that whatsoever. In fact, all the peripherals state he's is in fact ready.

Carlos Vargas.. just mowed down two Guardians hitters with high heat and a cutter... Andres Gimenez was able to put the barrel on the ball for a ripped single... (and was replaced by Brito running for him) before blowing away Mike Zunino on a triple digit FB that he couldn't catch up to... Losing Vargas was a mistake..

Logan Allen.. seems to be the most likely of the kids in the minors with timing/readiness...

Not with his walk rate last year. He'll have to demonstrate he can limit the free passes significantly if he's to get the call. I'm sure some of that is due to the cutter trial and error, but Bibee's control is superior. There are a lot of options and the one(s) they choose are probably already on the 40 man so this is a moot point. In all fairness I did say "Me" to preface the suggestion of promoting Bibee.
