2023 Guardians Spring Training Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well that took a turn away from dad joke lane really quick.
Hey man, you never know just how you look through other people's eyes. Sometimes it's better to just know.

My love for you is pouring like an avalanche coming down the mountain.

Remember everyone made fun out of the A's for the Murphy trade? For whatever reason, they really had their eyes on Ruiz and he has had a crazy spring. Maybe they will end up getting the last laugh and their evaluation of him was just way different from BTV, prospect lists, etc. And maybe they just didn't value our guys as heavily.

IDK that Bebo isn't more of what already exists.. perhaps better defensively than last season's squad.. perhaps not.. The emphasis on caught stealing is going to grow in importance.. I'm just not sure how much.. Either way, Bebo is on the wrong side of 30 and that ALWAYS suggests a regression of skills... Offensively, Bebo offers short instances of good play surrounded by a lot of misery..

The daily lineup is looking very solid save for catching on both sides of the ball.. Special attention to improvement on the defensive side of the ball comes from the improvement of Spongebob in RF and Amed at SS based on spring training and 2022 results.. The Guardians can't do much better at every other spot..

Hitting leans toward continued excellent contact rates and power increase..

Back of the rotation appears to be in flux.. IDK that Civale or Plesac will be holding onto their spots.. but, that's area needs to be viewed from a longer set of games.. Civale, especially.. The reinforcements in the minors should be more than adequate to fill in any deficiencies..
Given our shortage of roster spaces I'm really not interested in an oft-injured catcher who is probably significantly past his prime. I'd think more than for a lot of positions, not taking a lot of bus rides back and forth between Columbus and Cleveland is important. So what would happen when he gets hurt? We call up someone like Gallagher or Viloria from Columbus who has no options left with the intent of what when Perez comes back?

Just does not seem to fit this current roster unless we are super confident on Naylor.

1 and 3-7 are solid as hell. The other 3 we'll have to wait and see. The good news is that we have talented options should they falter.
