2023 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For reference, I think Francisca is one of our highest international signing bonuses at $1.375 million. Arias is getting $2 million. Willie Hood thought that would put him in 20-25 range. Francisca by reference is graded 45 and #13 by FG (was 5th teenager in his class by FG). Arias is graded 45 as well and 4th teenager in his class by FG.

Two more Venezuelan catchers.. very little about them on line..

Not a single pitcher listed. Also nice to see a Cuban player in the mix, hopefully it gores better than the last time.
It is typical. This is substantial signings, maybe $100,000 or more to get to $5.6-5.7 million. They then sign 10-15 $10,000-$25,000 pitchers to teach our system and get college kids like bibee

accelerated attrition rate of high school kids in the US would make the attrition rate of IFA's look like an "odds on" return.. The IFA focus up the middle is probably the Guardians best chance to get ANYTHING out of the IFA market...

In the most ‘color me shocked’ news of the day, the Guardians have announced that a top selection from last year’s draft will be having an arm surgery before barely unpacking their first minor league suitcase, a recent prerequisite the Guardians strictly follow now when making their top pitching selections.

Justin Campbell will now miss this season and have Ulnar Compression Surgery, which ironically is the exact same surgery relief pitcher Kyle Marman is receiving himself too, also announced today.

When they announced "rest" I knew that wasn't going to cut it. I am yet to meet ANYONE who has ulnar nerve issues in their elbow heal naturally.

Fortunately, the surgery is very effective/predictable.. Campbell has the kind of talent that is worth waiting for... The reason for the surgery may result in a longer recovery than the typical 3 to 6 months.. That usually happens if there is an untreated post-operative infection or the problem had been around for so long that the nerve is permanently damaged.. It's a wait and see kind of thing...

Hopefully since he's having it so soon after getting drafted, he will be able to come back healthy, and stronger than he was before. Plus they will likely work on his mechanics as he is recovering as well. We just have to trust in the system they have in place...

Just a little write-up on the top pitching prospect per team on mlb pipeline.
Guardians: Gavin Williams, RHP (No. 1/MLB No. 17)
Williams led the Minors in opponent average (.173) and ranked third in ERA (1.96) during his 2022 pro debut, and he has lowered those numbers to 1.58 and .154 between Double-A and Triple-A this year. The 2021 first-rounder from East Carolina has a 2.10 ERA and 36 strikeouts in his last 25 2/3 Triple-A innings, continuing to dominate with a mid-90s fastball and three solid secondary pitches.

Hopefully since he's having it so soon after getting drafted, he will be able to come back healthy, and stronger than he was before. Plus they will likely work on his mechanics as he is recovering as well. We just have to trust in the system they have in place...
Totally agree.
