2023 MLB Regular Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nice seeing the Yanks and Red Sox probably the only two teams left out from the AL East. Can ESPN even talk about baseball without crying now? Now just gotta hope the Cubs miss, and the Asterisks too.

The talking heads have to go Houston/Texas or bust in the AL. In the NL they still have the Dodgers. If the Dodgers are eliminated they will default back to the Braves.

Mariners Astros live, Hou ahead 4-0 4th inning.

Half a game apart, 3 games H2H to decide.

Eh, that's the most snakebit organization ever. Good luck, Mike.

Good read on the Yankees dysfunction. Are analytics to blame?

Today’s leadership, by contrast, has been so decentralized that Boone is forced to share his dugout and clubhouse with members of the analytics department.

And that, I bet, is what Judge was talking about this week.

This is what another ex-Yankee told me after watching enough games on YES to finally turn off the TV in disgust.

“Guys hit home runs and there’s like 10 non-player personnel high-fiving. Who are these people?” he said. “I would hate that. I would be like, ‘Get the [bleep] out the dugout, you don’t belong here.’ Can you imagine Paul O’Neill about to smash the water cooler and there’s five computer geeks in his way?

“Same thing in the clubhouse. When you have multiple levels of the front office going in and out of that room, computer guys and whoever else is in there with their iPads, that’s bad for morale. It makes you wonder, ‘Who’s in charge here?’ Because that room is supposed to be a special place for the players only. It’s sacred. Obviously, things have changed.”

The person being quoted is a dipshit.

"Hey, these people I work with, THEYRE IN A DEPARTMENT I DONT LIKE! WAAAAAHHH!"

It's hard to overstate just how fucking stupid he is.

Seems like a huge leap by the author to bet that Judge was talking about having too many analytics people in the clubhouse/dugout just because an ex-player thinks they shouldn’t be there.

not sure if its his last game, but if so, joey votto got ejected in his last game

The A's sure do take thriftiness to the next level, and unless the perfect fit falls into their lap it's hard to see them commit to any payroll increases outside the bare minimum until they move to Las Vegas...

Current financial overlook:

Total 2024 commitments: $10MM
Total long-term commitments: $10MM
