Yep, the McDonald's All Americans have been announced, let's start tracking this thing.

Looks like the top swingman is 6'5 Duke signee Dariq Whitehead from the same Montverde program that bought developed Cade Cunningham and Scottie Barnes.

In the same neighborhood are Baylor signee Keyonte George at 6'4. Kentucky signee Chris Livingston out of the Oak Hill Academy is listed at 6'6.

The top guard is Bronny James's teammate Amari Bailey, who at 6'5 could surprise and become more of a swingman. He is committed to UCLA.

Top bigs are Duke signee Dereck Lively and Oregon signee Kel'El Ware.

Is it ever too early to track basketball prospects? Probably not!

And of course the biggest name, and body, in the 2023 draft class is Victor Wembanyana who is the likely #1 pick

2nd pick may also not be in college ball next year either: Scoot Henderson who went to the G League a year earlier and has had some dominant games as a 17 year old.

Yeah, I remember the Holmgren vs. Wembanyama game last year. @Nathan S and a few other people were electrified.

Feels good knowing the Cavs aren't likely going to be in the lottery in 2023, but these names pop up years later.

The Thompson Twins are incoming...

Amen and Ausar. They're in a league I'm not familiar with (OTE: Overtime Elite. Kinda remember some discussion about this), saw some tape and discussion about them and goodness... They do have some pop in their game. Pretty impressive first step AND wiggle when in the paint combined with some fluid levitation-esque athleticism and power. Can't comment on the competition level, so it's difficult to project how they would fair against tougher opponents/teams, but .. goodness. Both have some fun tape (the announcers are incredible with the hype btw), but if you just have time for one, I recommend Ausar.

Next time I'm in Atlanta, will see if I can catch a game.

Beyond size/explosiveness, these guys are just effortlessly fluid and smooth.

Absolutely! So much wiggle and levitation! Good find. The fluidity, seemingly without exerting much effort, stands out.

The euro steps/flexibility/deft dodging and weaving I saw Amen pull off in the half-court inside a congested paint area is some wild stuff to see. Amen seems to have a little more finesse, while Ausar has a little more more power (and better arc on his jumper/better playmaking reads/passes). But both of them have both aspects in their arsenal! Combined with the explosive first steps these twins have... Goodness.

Do the Cavs have a second rounder?

Yes, sure do.
Via RealGM:
2023 - More favorable of CLE and GOS then other to MIL (via GOS to NOP to UTH to CLE to DET).

If the Cavs finish as a top 15 team next year, that places the pick somewhere around the 46+ range. If Golden State is awful, even better!

The 2023 first round pick is still lottery protected (1-14). It won't convey to Indiana if something goes sideways this upcoming season.

Wow, RealGM using GOS instead of GSW is just stupid. I was so confused on who they meant.

I don’t care what anybody says. Scoot Henderson should be the #1 pick in the draft and people are overrating Wembayama because of the flashes. And also dismissing how likely it is that he won’t be able to stay healthy at his height/frame/with his health track record already. People really don’t understand how impressive it is for Scoot to be doing what he’s doing at his age against grown men. That kind of productivity on the age curve always gets overlooked, just like it did for Luka.

Scoot is legitimately the best PG prospect I’ve seen in the 10 or so years I’ve closely followed the drafts.

My hopes for the 2023 draft, relative to where we pick.

Sidy Cissoko is actually the 6'7" he is rumored to be......and that he completely sucks in the G-League :chuckle:

Nikola Đurišić is undervalued. I'm usually not a Euro guy.......but Đurišić does something for me.

Tyler Burton is overlooked because of his age and school / conference and can be signed as an UDFA.

Not having a first round pick and trying to find a wing......
