2023 Season | Series #17 | Cardinals @ Guardians | May 26-28, 2023

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Did they have two coach visits to the mound in the 9th without removing the pitcher?

ETA: I guess they may have changed the old rule that required a pitching change on second visit from the dugout.

A big sequence in the Jose bat that will go unnoticed, after the first pitch, Straw was asking the 3rd base coach could he steal 3B , the Cardinals was conceding it, but our 3B coach said no, Straw look confused why not…..Think about it , if Straw steals 3B and Kwan follows in steals 2B, they automatically walk Josey, Glad our 3B coach thought ahead.

Thank you Ryan Helsley for walking Straw and Kwan so Jose could hit in the 9th. Victory snatched from the jaws of defeat. How many times with the Guardians get out-homered 3-0 and win? I'm sure this will be the only time it happens this year, maybe for several years.

Morgan and Curry combined for 4.1 innings of scoreless relief to open the door. Gaddis pitched four scoreless innings to extend his streak to 12 before they got to him for three dingers in the 5th. I think his role in the future might be in the bullpen. He is scheduled to start against the Twins on Friday so he may get one more shot.

The Guardians had 11 hits and four walks but could only stitch together four runs. They were 3-for-13 with RISP. Last year's two-out magic has been a distant memory, but it was revived today by Kwan and Jose, who delivered three RBI's with two-out.

Nice to see Zunino with two hits. He's 4-for-6 in his last two games and has hit safely in four of his last five. Also, just 3 strikouts in his last 15 at-bats. No home runs but he's starting to put the ball in play.

It was also great to see Bell get two hits, including a double that missed being a home run by inches, and Arias doubled into the right field corner. Baby steps.

Guardians 9, Cardinals 8 was the cumulative score for the weekend. Not much offense. The pitching was great as the Cardinals were averaging 4.3 runs per game on the road and the Guardians held them to 2.7.

Today... the Guardians & Jose Ramirez executed on their opportunities to score.. they didn't yesterday.. we'll see if the comeback/walk off has an effect/impact going forward... It was a good win.. and a good series..

Stole back the game we lost on Saturday, fair.

Coming back from that bases loaded failure in the 8th was huge.

Rosario coming to bat after two walks in a one run game is exactly why I want him gone from that 2nd spot. Thankfully he didn't make contact and we got to see Jose putting this team on his back for an important win.

With a more selective approach (walks) and more timely hits that should come, this team should be able to score 4+ regularly. Combine that with a strong and deep looking rotation and there's hope left for a turnaround/winning streaks... 110 games still to go

Gaddis is going the way of Eli Morgan, can start, but better as a reliever...
No..........no he's not and Tito will exhaust him as a SP before relegating him to a BP role. I know this because I heard those words come out of his mouth and it's way too early in Gaddis' career to do what you're suggesting.

The massive hitting team we had in the 90s with Thome, Belle, Ramirez, Alomars, Vizquel, et al. were great for drawing walks. They would frequently work the pitchers for 10 and 12 ball counts, so that even if the pitcher got out the side, they pitch 40 or more pitches. Inevitably, the second time through the lineup, they'd get mashed.
