2024-25 Playoffs | Indiana Series | Game #3 | Cavs @ Pacers | May 9, 2025 | 7:30 p.m. | ESPN

Pacers’ postgame comments.

“It’s a nice curveball to throw at us,” McConnell said. “Hunter on top and Mobley covering a lot of space in the back, you know, they’ve got the personnel to do it. It bothered us. But we have to make adjustments and figure out what we can do better when they throw that at us.”

Mitchell, who finished with 43 points, was again a thorn in the Pacers’ side, and most likely will continue to be the rest of the series.

“We’re not going to shut him down,” McConnell said. “We just have to keep trying to make things difficult. We need to be better in coverages and talking and trying to be physical with him.”

This is why Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton doesn’t get the respect he craves. This performance, this no-show against the Cavaliers, in Game 3 of their 2025 NBA Eastern Conference semifinals, when he had four points, no rebounds and five assists in a 126-104 loss — and was an even bigger no-show afterward, declining to talk to reporters.

Technically, officially, “Pacers PR didn’t make him available.” That’s the official line, a quote in the locker room from Mike Preston, the Pacers’ vice president of communications, and it’s nice that Preston — that somebody with the Pacers — is taking accountability for what cannot happen, ever, for the face of an NBA franchise. It can be a difficult job, being the face of a franchise. Glorious work, if you can get it, but hard work. And to whom much is given, much is expected.

Didn't hear Kenny's postgame but really hope he mentioned their dirty play. He should keep mentioning it, and don't label it as "physical" either, call it what it is. A lot of our guys are hurt already and these guys look like they're out to legit injure someone. It's only gonna get worse the longer this series goes too . . .

No doubt Pacers will rough up Donovan from the get go on Sunday.
