2024-25 Season | Game #53 | Timberwolves @ Cavs | Feb. 10, 2025 | 7:00 p.m.

The highest light of the game: Evan Mobley. He just played with a level of confidence and dominance that really shows the shift he has this year.
Stellar games from the rest of the core 4. The way this ball moves regardless of lineup is still amazing to see.

I like what I saw from Hunter. Especially the way defense factored with him in the lineup. Though he is the likely starter at the 3, he doesn't have to be so high in the pecking order here as he once was before recently in ATL, so he can just cook. Offensively he's going to see some incredible looks.

Ty Jerome is just a priceless addition to this lineup. There are things I will miss from our now traded guys, but Ty getting more time is only going to be to the Cavs benefit.

Tyson and Hunter got hit with a lot of early fouls which kind of sucked. Hunter going out because of it basically led to Ant going off and getting in rhythm for the rest of the game.

It was hilarious though, the Cavs won a quarter where the Wolves only had 2 made FGs. Everything else was free throws.

The Belt to Ass Campaign continues.

Also good to see some minutes for Travers, even if miniscule. Hope this continues for the next game before the break. I think he might be the likely choice for an elevation.

Anthony Edwards was pretty much undeterred when he got going. But for as much of a problem Gobert was on defense, it seemed that both Donovan and Evan go into higher gears going against him.

Donovan charging up the playoff dunks already.

Jerome is coming back. Book it, stamp it, and bill it.
Yeah. The market for backup (or even starting PGs) is not high, no one has cap space except a team on the tank, the Cavs have avenues to retain him, and they just traded LeVert likely with the intent on keeping him, and they just traded for one of his best friends in the league (who just so happens to fill a glaring void in the Cavs lineup).

They're keeping Ty. Now some of the others on the periphery may be in question, but Ty's coming back.

We are going into tax land next year regardless - Mobley and DM alone are increasing 40 million between the two of them. What's a few more million at this point to keep Jerome if we like him?

Which is concerning because they don't have any real floor general. Would they offer Ty the kind of deal OKC gave Hartenstein? That is the one scenario where you'd understand that Ty couldn't turn that down.

Hopefully they are more interested in using their cap space to take on bad contracts from other teams with picks attached to help their rebuild. Or in making big RFA offers to guys like Kuminga or Giddey
I still think there will be buyers beware when other teams start thinking making any substantial offer to him, I could see teams thinking is he just flourishing in our system, keep in mind Warriors ran a similar system, and could we trust his health…..

I still think we could offer something in the 6/10 a year range in that should be a competitive offer……I’m guessing we would have to use some of our ML to make that happen.

Yep. Cavs are going to be a second apron team regardless if they kept Ty or kept Caris, which is why the move for Hunter needed to happen this year.

The Fear The Fro podcast (recommended listen) has covered this in a number of recent episodes. It's not 100% guaranteed, but there is a high chance that the pickings are slim and given that the Cavs just made the move for Hunter, it bodes well for the Cavs.

That's 10 minutes of my life I'll never get back. I can't believe I watched it that long.
I find it kind of funny listening to a Brooklyn basketball fan shit talk about how good the Cavs are at the moment.

Except for Tristan Thomas (sic) "sit down, you a bum!"

I agree it is not everyone's cup of tea.

It's a lot like watching a train wreck--you can't turn away. I love his positive comments on the Cavs--that's why I listen.
