This really gives me chills.

We knew there were some connections with Hunter and the team, drafted in Garland, friends, played basketball with Ty, friends, and he knew Mitchell from workouts.

But to learn that Ty and Hunter are best friends and now they get to play together. That is awesome, i just love this story. The way they both smile when talking about the trade and playing together is just incredible.

I really cant get enough of this side of the story.

He was hot garbage. Our offense sucked so bad we were borderline unwatchable at times and very predictable.

Pick and roll, pick and rolls pick and roll.

Doesn’t work? Mitchel or Garland iso —> contested middy or three.

Leave Rey with the green light to go 1v1, contested mid range fade aways.

Rinse repeat.

We are literally on pace to win 20 more games with pretty much the same roster (other than Jerome).

Anyone who is paying attention to what is happening in Detroit realizes he is obviously not hot garbage as a coach. But if you had this opinion while he was our coach, it is understandable why this is still your opinion. Most people don't like to admit when they're wrong. You are also leaving out the injury issues the Cavs had last year plus the fact that the team is still young and improving. I think if JBB was still the coach, we'd be neck and neck with the Celtics and probably on track to win 58-60 games.

But we're doing better than this, because Atkinson is hands down a better coach than JBB.

I think voters will consider JBB’s Detroit improvement this season more relevant for 2024-25 CoY than his 2023-24 Cavaliers record.

Those who hate JBB will look for any reason to denigrate his performance this season or, for that matter, his foundational work here. That’s fine. But using last season’s alleged “failures” (as if we had any chance to beat Boston with Donovan and Allen missing games) as an argument to not vote for him this season is weak sauce.

Nah, 60 wins with JB? In this team? There is zero evidence in his coaching over the past 4 years which supports this.

People have very short memories here.

Pistons were actively tanking last year, they added a bunch of pieces and have drafted very well.

He’s doing a good job. But he also has a very good team.

Against the Knicks, we had the better roster. Got EMBARRASSED 4-1. Scored over 100 ONCE and it was thanks to a 50 point garland game.

Next year we barely beat a young inexperienced Magic. Who were up 17 in game 7. Again EMBARRASSING,

Oh and the year before that? Embarrassed by Trae Young at home. That was some of the worst game planning I’ve ever seen by an NBA head coach. Trae did whatever he wanted.

Just wait till the post season and he loses 4-1 to the pacers

Both things can be true. JB can be a decent regular season coach and also a terrible playoff coach. Mike brown is the same. Different beasts that need a different skillset

Yes JB is a great coach for getting guys to buy in, play hard etc. But hes an awful tactician.

He’s good for young teams still learning the game. But when he’s with a team of vets who knows how to play and are looking to compete for a championship he’s awful. This is why he sucked with both the Grizzlies, and the Rockets. And also started sucking here come playoff time and in the later seasons.

Guys were getting tired of being put into a handicap running basic shit every game and then hearing him call our their lack of toughness or that they didn’t play hard enough etc.

The same thing will happen in Detroit. They will look good but will peak at some point soon. Get exposed in the playoffs and eventually fire him for whoever is avaiblible to take them to the next level
 
Boston only favored by 2.5 which is very odd considering they were favored by something like 2.5 when we played in Cleveland.
