2024-25 Season | Game #74 | Cavs @ Pistons | March 28, 2025 | 7:00 p.m.

Not specific to this game, but I am officially and permanently off of Okoro Island. I’ve always been aware of his limitations but for a long time still believed in his glacial speed development having a payoff that would be worth it

However. EVEN IF/WHEN his spot up 3P shooting is good, he is still so limited and singular on offense in a way that doesn’t work for the kind of offense that we’ve done best this season. He’s just an offensive energy killer too much of the time. He can still carve out a role on a different type of team(ironically DET when Cade plays is one of those types of teams, with a primary offensive orchestrator) but for this team, he just doesn’t do enough to be worth his downsides

I still believe it was 100% the right decision to re-sign him because his salary can be part of some trade at some point in the next year, but he’s just too robotic, too freeze in the moment, to awkward on offense to be a part of the “Best Version of the Cavs”

I’ll leave my Beach Chair and half finished Pina Colada for anyone brave enough or patient enough to want to stay on the Island

I think my main complaint (besides the officiating) is the rotations... no more 2 guards and Sam for the love of everything. Those lineups just suck and don't get the offense we want to see when they're run.

Defense somehow letting shooters free has been a problem for years. I think if anything, I'm most worried about that. I don't care if the shooter is ass, put a body on anyone trying to attack from behind the arc. That's how Boston beats the Cavs.

The loss in a vacuum is fine. But the lack of consistent effort we've been seeing over the last 6 weeks or so has been pathetic. Especially how easily they give up the ball under slight pressure, which has been something we've seen throughout the season. Kenny, get it together or we're going to be exactly what the rest of the league has been calling us. The 2010s Hawks...

This is the worst insult in the history of insults and it keeps getting tossed around.

The Hawks were one of the last 4 teams left standing.

If they are that, then I don't know how the "rest of the league" has any right to fling that as an insult, considering all but 3 other teams won't be that.

Garland was fine tonight? But, as usual, gets blamed for all the team’s failure. He finally shot the 3 ball well.

Okoro played badly. You add it along with Frob, defense collapsed.

We just need to finish off with the one seed. Boston is now staring us down only being 4 games back. We better be careful here.

They need Garland to be a regular star player and he hasn't been that all month.

Yeah this team is not the 2016 Warriors

Anyone who says they came into the season saying that we were some type of prohibitive favorites to win the title is not remembering their initial preseason predictions

We burnt much brighter than any of us anticipated and only the permanence of the playoffs is going to finish the story of this season. Not grasping(and I’m guilty of doing it as much as anyone) at trying to analyze what these last few weeks mean.

We’ll soon find out this teams ultimate destiny for this season and no matter how high or low it ends up being, we can dissect much more accurately once we see what this specific roster under this specific coach does in these upcoming playoffs.

Edit: @Rich i have a bad/weird habit of piggybacking off posts I agree with with my own thoughts. Should have just made this as a separate post and defintely was not in n opposition to your post or trying to put any words in your mouth(relative to preseason expectations, current state of things etc)

Those Hawks teams were just unlucky like much of the East was at the time. There was a LeBron roadblock sitting in their ways.
