2024-25 Season | Game #78 | Kings @ Cavs | April 6, 2025 | 6:00 p.m.

You do realize that the playoffs are going to be physical and the refs are going to let stuff like tonight slide by with no calls.

And we better be prepared for it.
Yeah this is my point. Down the stretch Allen was so affected that he was completely taken out of rebounding opportunities. He was trying to dance/maneuver around Sabonis like he was a 6ft tall point guard.

Also had a crucial turnover at the end. People want to excuse it but the last 12 or so games have been teams playing us as if it was the playoffs.

I know Allen has been shooting well but just watch him against a physical team - dude collapses mentally and it hurts the team.

Haven’t been thrilled with how we’ve finished games defensively. But frankly I am just thankful Mitchell is OK. Would have been a nice win, whack ending.

I hope it’s more taking the foot off the gas as we finish up the season and not the team regressing hard. Guess we will know when we face the 8 seed what kind of juice this team really has.

Feels like the league has been preparing us for the playoffs all season

Same.

Dodged a freaking bullet. My heart skipped a beat when Mitchell was writhing in pain.

Couldn't believe he came back.

I'm pretty sure the NBA wants Boston in the Finals. If the Cavs make it past the second round the refes will make sure the Celtics advance. So tired of the non-calls when Cavs players get hammered on layups. And what was that tonight? "His fingertips touched the ball so no foul." Really? So you can body slam a player but as long as your fingertips touch the ball it's no foul?

Not damning the Cavs but looking forward to the Buckeyes along with an eye on the draft

Didn’t watch but looking at the minutes doesn’t seem like Kenny was concerned about winning this game.

We gotta remember all these teams are fighting for their lives and playoff positioning.

We’re chilling. Not worried

This has been the case for almost every game since our win against Boston. Starters resting at times and almost no one ever playing more than 32-33 minutes.

  • The Cavs lost this game in the clutch, and that’s perhaps the most concerning part. While they’re 9th in clutch net rating since the All-Star break, they’re an incomprehensible -22.6 in the clutch over their last 15 games. In that span, they’re shooting 31% eFG and have a TOV% of 18.6%. Not only are they not making shots but they’re compounding it by making mistakes too.
  • And sure enough, clutch time bared these very fruits. Allen had a turnover followed by a wide-open spot-up three miss by Strus and a wide-open mid-range floater on Garland (if we want to be harsh, we’d mention Garland went 0-4 under 3 minutes including 0-3 3s). The opportunities were there, and the Cavs couldn’t take advantage of them.
  • In his post-game comments, Kenny called out the stretch of four consecutive offensive rebounds followed by three consecutive three-point misses as encapsulating the game. The opportunities were knocking but the Cavs just couldn’t answer the door.
  • A Jarrett Allen dunk ended up being the only points the Cavs scored the final 180 seconds of regulation.

In the 1% chance we actually win the championship, we are gonna hear non stop how tainted this title will be cause we couldn't beat the Kings...

And it's a legit point...

There have been a number of reviews like that across the league this year. Sometimes they completely disregard contact if the block came first. Can’t imagine that actually matches the letter of the law, because even then it should be a loose ball foul at least, right?

Cavs have to know they cannot expect to get a favorable whistle, regardless of the matchup or whether it’s home or away.

I'll believe the NBA isn't rigged when SGA goes 0-0 at the free throw line and Bronny is playing basketball where he belongs in Belize...

Here's what all of knew was going to happen today...

NBA admits missed call in Cavs loss

You probably didn’t need this confirmation. But the NBA has admitted an incorrect non-call at the end of the Cleveland Cavaliers' loss to the Sacramento Kings. A pivotal layup from Zach LaVine never should have been counted as it was released after the 24-second shot clock had expired.

It was explained yesterday that the referees are unable to review whether or not the shot came before the clock expired unless they stop the game before the ball is back in play. While you can be upset at the Cavs for rushing the ball inbounds, I don’t think the players are responsible for making sure the refs do their job. This layup attempt from LaVine was clearly close enough to review and should have resulted in an immediate whistle.

We know thats BS..refs can stop the ball at any given time...they do after a 24 second violation and the defense gets the ball to start a fast break.
