2024 Around The League Off-Season

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And it is "official".

4:15pm: The two sides now have an agreement in place pending a physical, per Mark Feinsand of MLB.com. The financial details are still not known, though it’s a one-year deal, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Edman can fill the role he was filling while with the Cardinals.. that is.. until either Colson Montgomery or newly acquired Braden Shewmake makes the decision to fill the spots.. Colson is big enough/strong enough/good enough to move to the hot corner if Shewmake proves to be as good as his scouting grades.. Either/or.. Timmy Anderson and his 'tude is gone from the CWSox making them a much stronger opponent in the long run...

the LAD's may have made a deal with the CWSox for Dylan Cease.. that move makes the CWSox weaker in 2024/2025... IDK about what comes afterward.. It would be nice to see the Guardians insinuate themselves into that deal.. the Dodgers have some pretty good and near ready ML prospects..

There's blood in the water...

Someone names Juan Francisco Sandoval claims that the Dodgers and CWSox are in discussions regarding a three for one.. with

-One of Dalton Rushing or Diego Cartaya
-One of Andy Pages, Michael Busch or River Ryan
-One or Two of Jose Ramos, Peter Heubeck, Chris Newell Kendall George Joendry Vargas or Kyle Hurt

Apparently if the CWSox decide on Ramos or Heubeck, they get a second choice from this tier..

Oddly, no one from the parent club's roster is even mentioned.. Usually, that means the source is not well connected to the Dodger FO.. At least it isn't another "down the rabbit hole for Ohtani and Trout" deal.. however ridiculous that is.. I guess we'll see..

One of the first if not the actual first, "big" trades of the off-season.. The deal includes former Cleveland pitching prospect Carlos Vargas who we traded to the Diamondbacks just over a year ago (11/15/22) for Ross Carver.

I still feel like Freeman to the Mariners makes a ton of sense... If he's not in Cleveland, I feel like he will end up there...

Has to be another deal in the works for the Mariners..unless they think Locklear (a member of the AFL Javalinas) is ready to jump over AAA and go right to the ML's??.. doubtful..

Vargas may still be relevant as a middle/late inning reliever.. We'll see...

Apparently.. the raising of the 12th Man flag has excited the crazed PacNW fans into believing Snell is going to depart from sunny SD and head to the liquid sunshine of Seattle.. provided the $$ is good (it will be)... Could be, only could be, the Mariners would be more willing to move an SP in addition to whatever ML and ML Ready guys the Guardians wanted for a contact hitting corner OF'er..

But as the first month of the offseason turns into the second, the Cardinals have differentiated themselves from similar disappointed powerhouses in a few significant ways. One, they have been clear about what they want. Two, they have been aggressive in trying to get it.

“We entered this offseason with one simple goal, and that was pitching, pitching, pitching,” Cardinals team president John Mozeliak said this week at a news conference introducing Sonny Gray, the most decorated of three starting pitchers St. Louis recently signed. “So far, so good.”

Another interesting tidbit is New York is currently scheduled to possess $65,933,333 in “dead money” factored into their total figure thanks to the trades of Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, and James McCann, as well as the outright of Tomás Nido. This figure is higher than the Oakland Athletic’s current $59.3 million 40-man CB tax payroll.

Evan White had another surgery on his hip.. the injury updates and other information on him say he is finally healthy and swinging like he did when the Mariners extended him with a large contract.. He might never gain that edge.. but, at the time of the signing, he was hailed as a future star and building block...
