2024 Guardians Post Season Thread

First up the harrowing bye week.

Guardians took the number 2 seed so they get a bye this week and wait for the Tigers@Houston series. Houston took 4 of 6 in the regular season but both series were play before July.

Who do the Gs want to play in the ALDS, how far will they go, who do they need to step up.

Houston has a much better lineup, so I'd rather play Detroit. Yeah, you have to face Skubal possibly twice, but they're substantially weaker than the Astros top to bottom.

Guardians should be favored against either team in my opinion.

Baseball is weird. Could not have predicted we'd go on that run in 2016 nor getting snuffed out in 2017. We are relying on a lot of young guys who are about to play the biggest games of their career. It could go sideways fast, but fuck it WORLD SERIES BOUND. THIS IS THE YEAR.

I think we have seen that when the Guards play good ball, they can beat ANYONE. Conversely, they can also lose 5 of 13 to the ChiSox. If Guards play clean defense, keep up the good pen work, maintain juuuust enough good starting pitching for 4-5 innings, they are going to be a tough out. We have seen it for much of the season. They pounce on other teams mistakes while limiting their own.

I would much rather play either Baltimore or KC but apparently the Guardians brain trust had no real interest in pursuing the number one seeding.

At least one starter other than Bibee is going to have to pitch a good game or we we're going to have to score a boatload of runs. Hard for me to admit, but we're not exactly built for playoff run dominance. Gonna need a bit of luck or an offensive explosion IMO.

Boyd could be the difference maker. A healthy Cobb is a wildcard.

I'm not a patient man/fan. Wish we could get this started today!

The team will need to be at its best defensively. Extra outs will run up the pitch count and gives more opportunities for the opponent to push runners across the plate.

Hey we made the playoffs, so that is a win.

We also got the number 2 seed , so that is also a win.

We will need to be better against either Detroit or Houston, but the team has the ability, I think their problem is bring it all together in the same game.
