2024 Minor League Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
One who's value is piquing right now.. His fastball is about a foot and a half short..but his two breaking pitches are major league quality.. BOR SP is his ceiling.. One thing that cannot be taught..is being left handed.. That alone keeps him in baseball..

If someone came along and offered anything of value.. trade him.. imho...

Could not disagree with the top sentence more.

What is your take on Nikhazy? Just curious if he is someone who could help. Seems to be handling AAA pretty well so far.

Not this year.

Talking about someone who went from a straight 4-seam and over the top curveball working north and south with location to setup his curve prior to this season to now a 3/4 slot throwing mostly sinkers and sliders and working east to west. A completely different pitcher and his command and control is coming along with it.

Not a soft tosser by any means, can get his sinker up to 95, and when you add in that he is consistently generating 7 feet of extension with his delivery, which would be 90th percentile in the MLB, his stuff plays up even more.

But never like seeing guys undergoing massive mechanics and pitch mix tweaks getting thrust into the MLB year 1 of that change. Get through this season, refine it even more this winter, and let’s see what we have.

Nikhazy and Peterson are the guys I wanna see in person. July 19 (a Friday) should line up for Peterson to pitch in Akron and also is allegedly DeLauter’s return date, so I’m gonna try to get there.
Of course, the All-Star break could mess up the rotation.

Peterson also going tonight for Akron... Maltrud is turning into quite the organizational soldier. Tried to catch some velocity comments but didn't hear any/was in and out of the game quite a bit.

Maltrud is typically 91-94, 79-81 slider, mixes in a 72-74 curve every once in a while.

Give you 1 guess what he does well.

Nikhazy’s off speed stuff is great to watch in person.

Gotta say, I’m feeling much better about our starting pitching depth than I did two months ago. Peterson and Nikhazy leading the way, but we also have these two young studs now in AAA… some kids named McKenzie and Allen, lol!
