2024 NFL post season

The QBs at the top of this draft are not elite. So by your logic they should tank again this year and hope for an elite QB prospect like Manning next year.

Ward and Sanders are two of the worst rated top of the draft QB prospects in recent history
Patrick Mahomes pick (10), Lamar Jackson pick (32) and Josh Allen pick (7) were not elite coming out of college.

He was lucky to not have 3-4 turnovers. I don’t think he played a very good game.

On the other hand, James Cook was dicing up that KC defense. Saquon should have a field day in 2 weeks.

My thing with Buffalo is that it seems they’re more interested in Josh Allen’s status than simply winning at any cost. The fans and the organization both come off that way.

Imagine having Cook and still forcing the exact same QB sneak that never worked.

They also have elite physical tools that Sanders especially doesn't possess.

I still have no idea how Lamar went 32nd with his skill set. If a prospect like him was in the draft today, he would be a top 5 pick without a doubt

No offense, but this reeks of recency bias and revisionist history.

Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, Watson, others all had very real warts as prospects. It’s admittedly very hard to put ourselves back in the evaluator shoes of them as prospects after watching them dominate the NFL ranks, but it’s a fact evidenced by where they were picked despite the positional value.

There were also several guys similarly rated who didn’t pan out. It’s just the nature of the beast.

I'm talking about Lamar specifically. He was clearly a better prospect than Anthony Richardson who went 4th.

Lamar specifically. Remember that insanely idiotic narrative that “some executives” wanted him to do WR testing at the combine in addition to QB testing? Polian’s dumb ass even went on record with it, IIRC.

Again, that was a moronic take. But I bring it up as an example of how all over the place QB prospect talk and skillset evaluations can be.

I think that's mostly due to the fact it was 7 or so years ago, many teams were stuck in an old way of thinking. If a Lamar prospect came out today, he would be top 5.

Brock Purdy (born December 27, 1999) is an American professional football quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the Iowa State Cyclones and was selected by the 49ers with the final pick in the 2022 NFL draft, becoming that year's Mr. Irrelevant

Lamar the prospect unfortunately didn't have the benefit of Lamar the NFL player's success to improve his draft stock.

Stick Jayden Daniels in the 2018 draft and Lamar in the 2024 draft and their draft positions are almost certainly flipped.
