Yeah he just shouldn't have been there given what else was in the system. Now we are still seeing the lingering effects as all these guys are fighting for playing time with few options to spare. This situation could've and should've been sorted out a lot sooner. My main pet peeves with Guardians' management:
  1. Limited patience with young players and a lot of patience with older players
  2. Following from 1, clogging up the system with aging, unproven prospects who lose value by the day often on the MLB bench, and forced eventually to sell them off for pennies or risk losing to Rule 5
  3. Handling promotions in a methodical way, sometimes to the point of fault (although other orgs can go the other way much too hard)
  4. Average hitters in the 2 hole when we could be putting our better hitters there
Not the most major things but 1 and 2 are the really material ones, the others just annoy me personally.
TBH, the most frustrating thing for me has been the pathetically weak offense, but what you listed is also true.

You have to play good defense, but any player that cannot contribute much offensively is no better than the opposite. In fact, I would suggest that a weak defensive player that can hit the shit out of the ball is more valuable.

Ariass 2-18 stretch
As a believer in Arias' talent, he looks absolutely lost at the plate right now. How in the hell does an organization that focused on MIFers for so long not have one worth a shit other than maybe Gimenez. Even he hasn't been much offensively speaking.

Naylor, JRam and Fry are carrying this team right now. Somebody needs to step up their game.

I wanna give him the excuse of simply losing confidence/faith and pressing because he's not playing everyday to battle through. Also the whole looking over his shoulder thing. I fully believe if this fuckin' guy goes to Tampa he then becomes a torch.

Game turned on a few pitches.

Cookie had two strikes on both Taveras and Semien, and lost them both.

Josh comes to the plate the next inning, with 2 on, and hit into a DP to kill the rally.

Then Sandlin comes in and throws 6 balls in 7 pitches, before delivering a gopher ball. And then the game was out of reach.

But yes - carting out that line-up tonight was almost like conceding.

He's the type of talent that will struggle for awhile and then all of a sudden explode. It could be that he never becomes more than a good defensive SS that runs into one fairly frequently. There are no other options ready at this point unless you want to slide Gimenez over and/or call Schneeman up. It's a conundrum.

The team is 10 games over 500 and still in first place with our leadoff hitter out and 2 FOR starters out.

Things can be a lot worse. Keep trying to get Arias' pulse back at the plate and keep giving Rocchio starts at SS. Hopefully near the end of the year we'll have a better idea of things....

We’re NEVER catching the Phillies NOW.
