2024 Season | Series #15 | Twins @ Guardians | May 17-19, 2024

I didn't say a word yesterday when Arias booted his third play at second base in 26 freaking innings this year.

I mentioned that Arias hit the ball hard twice today.

But from you, if Rocchio makes a sensational play...crickets. When Arias Ks 15 times in 30 PAs...crickets.

You always have an excuse, just like scores of parents I've had to deal with. 'My little Gabby should be playing shortstop. My little Gabby should be playing every day.'

David Fry doesn't get to play his primary position. Tyler Freeman doesn't get to play his primary position. Andres Gimenez doesn't get to play his primary position. Jose Ramirez didn't get to play his primary position.

When you can't justify Arias' total lack of production, you make aspersions on Rocchios character. But, of course, you 'know these guys personally.' If you REALLY know these guys personally, send Arias a message.

'Suck it up, buttercup.'

When Rocchio ran into Freeman, I called him on it. Unlike you, I call what I see, good and bad.

The simplest play is running ten feet to
the bag, as opposed to throwing it 100 feet to first.
Kwan doesn't/didn't get to play his "primary" position too. And he's won two gold gloves and counting.

I love you Cats.

A one hopper 95.0 MPH off the bat with one of the fastest runners in the league sprinting on contact to 2B, fielded as you said a good 10 feet behind the bag.

Feels like the easier play there is to just calmly throw out the slower runner at first base every single time.

My sense from rewatching it is that on contact Rocchio had it in his mind that Gimenez was just to be there for an easy flip and more or less panicked when he realized not only was Andres not there, but definitely wasn’t going to even try to get there.

It should be the easier play. But rocchio needs to know who is at first and that particular runner is like 99 percentile in foot speed. Given those circumstances the easier play is to 1st. Brennan saved the day after the brain dead play by Rocchio, Josh, Gimenez baserunning and Clases error.

On to the next one.

You are in Croatia NOW? One of my favorite places in the world.
Plitvička jezera park is the most incredible place I've ever been. There is just nothing like it. For any nature lovers this needs to be a must do within your life time.

I think this pretty much sums it up. Thanks.

Rocchio has to run this exact scenario through his mind before the pitch. The way he was shifted 2b was his to cover, and he should've damn well known that. Andres was never gonna make it that far to cover the bag, he's probably playing 40' away from the bag. Throw the ball to first kid, you had plenty of time!! I think its time to retire the "professor" nickname.

And pitchers are over 60 feet from 1st …. Why should they cover? Catchers are 90 ft from first … how many run down the line to cover for a potential bad throw even though they won’t make it? And, why even cover as every throw is routine, just ask Steve Sax. Guess Buxton shouldn’t have run his 80 feet either as Gimenez was closer…. No one saying Rocchio is without blame. Just saying it’s a team sport and bunch of players played a role as Rocchio could have ended it but so could Clase, Naylor and Gimenez.

And, please, let’s start teaching SS to stop throwing to 2nd on every 3rd out because I see that at least once every other game …. several w runner in his slide where I even thought it was too close to take so nonchalantly. Don’t they know better than the Professor??

Do you have any idea how unhinged you sound?

Bimbo isn't making posts one way or the other. When people fellate Rocchio, he points out what Rocchio is doing--but certain individuals don't want to hear that. Certain individuals will take every discussion about Rocchio and use Arias as a punching bag to bolster their argument.

I think Bimbo's said at least 50 times that this isn't a Rocchio vs Arias thing. I wonder when some people will start to figure that out.

Whoa whoa whoa.

It is a Rocchio vs Arias thing. Babe Arias is on track to be the greatest of all time if he just gets 500 or so more ABs. Rocchio stands in the way of that!

And Arias is 100% to blame for Rocchio’s .578 OPS and some of the worst qualified batting stats in the game right now, on top of multiple mental defensive miscues each week. I don’t blame people for mentioning his name anytime something is said about Rocchio’s performance, it’s all his fault.

But had Gabe never been born we would have never wasted time giving him ABs and Rocchio would have an extra 400 PAs to this point. Imagine where he could be with that extra playing time?!? His OPS could be .620, he could have 1 total HR, and he’d only try to kill 1 teammate per week instead of 2. Gabe took that from us, the bastard!!

Glad you like it, Bob, because you're not going anywhere until the Guardians lose. Never mess with a winning streak.

And sorry but I always play devil‘s advocate, but we are all going on TV announcer immediate comment but here is where he fielded it …. Was the throw there with knowing what Judge and Reggie Jackson type runners do especially if Buxton did a bit of bannana route (where base stealers walk off base a bit deep to avoid 1st baseman playing inside bag) and he is throwing righty side arm closer to base path. It would have cleared up in a sec as Buxton got closer to bag. And, for those that didn’t notice hit by pitch, Jeffers dropped his elbows ever so slightly into pitch vs pulling them inside to avoid the pitch. Little things do matter.
