2024 Season | Series #16 | Mets @ Guardians | May 20-22, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Latest report on Williams is that he is nearing rehab and that will begin the max 30-day clock for him to be activated. We should hear soon of his latest pen session (last I hear was back on May 17th).

But, I have pressed Bimbo on Williams (about weighted balls causing elbow issues) and had my concerns about his inflammation of elbow back in mid-April (as he was ramping up the first time). Yet, there is no rumbling on the ground (on today's twitter) to cause too much alarm right now. My initial guess a few weeks ago was bullpen work was progressing towards an early to mid-June. I think it is 2-3 weeks (3-4 starts) once he goes on rehab which a twitter posted was thinking maybe next week (but haven't seen an official or reliable sources yet). But, Bimbo seemed to confirm with implying July was not the right timeline.

And, CATS if you want to make a point try to find the facts (or repost the actual remark). I do not think Bimbo said anything in March about a short ramp up (and I looked back at postings). That was Guardians saying that and us other posters commenting on it. Williams got delayed due to the inflammation issue which sometimes happens (yes it was fair to read into it that it could have been more when no other info was given). But Bimbo did say that it wasn't anything to be overly concerned about - just a setback. And, Williams/Guard probably could have pushed him through it but probably not the wisest decision and thus they error-ed on side of caution which delayed thing beyond what they were initially thinking of mid-late April. Shit happens, doesn't mean his arm is falling off anytime soon.

w/r to the timeline.. the soreness is a warning... perhaps not easily defined from a cause/effect perspective, but, clearly an announcement that says.. "...keep throwing that way and you'll be under the knife..." The time it takes to return without issue can be as short as what was originally thought.. or longer depending on the learning curve needed to prevent just such an occurrence....

There is no doubt no one (friends, foes or family) want to see this young man hurting doing what he loves.. He'll be back when he is back.. in the interim.. first place with one of the youngest teams in MLB...
