Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Matsui shit himself, and the Royals walk it off. Magic number stays at 99. Damn.
What a shame..

Yes He is about 10-15 games in. I’d write him off too. Good call
I'm not questioning Manzardo. I'm questioning how the team is using him and how it's really unlikely he (or anyone for that matter) can become an impact player in that role.

This team has not been known to develop young hitters. Doing things like this are a big reason why IMO. The constant platooning and sharing time with other young prospects is a big reason for it IMO.

IMO they should trust their evaluation, pick a guy, and let the guy play every day. Let him develop and truly see what you have. The sharing time with JRod, Gabe, etc is only hurting development and your ability to truly evaluate a player.

They seem to be doing this with Freeman at least, which is a positive.

That ball Freeman didn't get to was smoked at nearly 103 EV.

I don't think he gets to it even if he takes a different/better angle.
I was in the bleachers today and you are correct. Nobody gets that even Lofton.

Schnee's blast to deep center had exit velo at 107.4. Dude has a pretty swing.

Anyone know what Schneeman's splits were this year? Wouldn't bother me a bit to send both Arias and Rocchio down and give Martinez a shot with Schnee platooning at ss. Also if the only way to get Fry everyday playing time would be if Bo gets sent down...then send Bo down. Just a joke Fry was on the bench today.

Freeman and Brennan are excellent outfielders.
I wouldn't say excellent. Average to slightly above, maybe. I've been impressed with Freeman making the change there. Until today, i havent noticed any games where hes hurt us out there. I'm far from an analytics wizard, but they tell a different story on Freeman. (Someone with more knowledge, please correct me if I'm wrong).

He ranks 39th amongst CF with -2 Outs Above Average and -1 Runs Prevented. (Minimum 50 attempts)
His Range = 25th percentile (mostly due to poor jumps on the ball)

Brennan's Range is 36th percentile

(Kwan is 90th percentile for comparison)

I think Freeman and Brennan are fine out there. For the most part, they won't kill you. I was moreso complaining about the other guys we've seen out there defensively in Arias, Fry, Florial, JRod. Those guys scare me every time the ball is hit to them.

Angel has just played CF for the first time ever in the minors and he also hasn't played a game at SS yet this year. I don't think there's any point of rushing him up and risking another Rocchio.

The thing is, none of these guys that got called up blew away minor leagues except Manzardo a bit, and Schneemann if you're looking at really small samples. If you can't blow away minor league pitching, you probably aren't gonna do a whole lot to major league pitching. Angel will get his chance to show if he's ready and there isn't much standing in his way, but you better hope that if he is looking good that he'll be more of a full-timer. I'd hate to see a repeat of the Rocchio situation.

Given how much Freeman has played in the OF he's done a fine job. You'd expect that he will keep improving out there. For instance today he took a bad route in the Meneses double off Cookie. He is generally taking bad jumps and suboptimal routes but he is good at finishing off a play. These are exactly the things you'd expect someone new to the OF to be below average at but I don't see any reason why he won't improve.

Looks like Martinez is being moved to CF/taking over the Schneemann role in Columbus to me.

This is actually Angel's 2nd MILB game in CF, he played one in the ACL.

It is his first time in CF after 3 games at 2b at Columbus. But, it will be interesting how they use all their players as today they had a free OF space as Rodriguez was traveling (even just to Columbus).

OF - Straw, Valera, Rodriquez, Cedrola
1B/OF - Pries, Noel (about 50/50)
Inf - Tena, Brito, Delgado
Martinez

I just don't think Martinez will get much run in the OF for now (until someone goes up to replace Schneemann)... but I still want him to get a lot of play there and 2B. It will be interesting if he sneaks into SS competition too as Tena now is the only one down there that plays there. With the promotion of Furman, don't be surprised to see Valdes or Cairo go up to AAA (as JUST a fill-in) at expense of Delgado or Cedrola or Donovan just to give some depth at SS where Martinez can develop where they see him long-term if not SS/utility (for Tena's day off or other position that they want him to play).

Straw and others (JRod, Noel) will DH most of time so I expect Martinez to be closer to a 50/50 split between IF/OF.

Delgado lucks out here for now IMO and he'll get a run to see if he can play most days.

Crazy prediction? Straw gets some time at SS/2B.
