2024 Season | Series #20 | Royals @ Guardians | June 4-6, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Should Vogt have let Bibee work out of his own jam?

I’m not going to feel right until we we sweep the Fish. And then the Redlegs. And then the Jays.

Yeah, the one pitcher I feel decent about sending out there. Sucks to lose that one for sure.
by the old rules of 6ip, 3er being a quality start, bibee has 4 in 13 starts
-
not sure we need a 3rd naylor
-
quality win for kc and they needed it

The things the Guardians have been so good at all year let them down today. An error by Gimenez led to one run and a bad throw to the plate by Josh Naylor led to another in a one-run loss.

The bullpen that has practically been airtight gave up the winning run when the #8 and #9 hitters got a double and single with two outs and nobody on. The double was amazing; an 0-2 fastball at 95 that was almost in Frazier's armpit that he lined down the right field line. Then Isbel, hitting .203 coming in, jumped on a first pitch fastball down the middle for the deciding hit. Bad pitch by Gaddis.

The Guardians were 1-for-8 with RISP. They've been outstanding in those situations this year but not today.

Defense, relief pitching, and hitting with RISP - three things the Guardians have excelled at but not today. Sandlin came in and gave up a double to a right-handed hitter which drove in the 2nd run and set up the 3rd when Naylor's throw was off the plate.

Naylor also dropped a pickoff throw from his brother that rolled into the dugout and allowed the runner to go from first to third. Just a wierd day with Gimenez letting a sinking line drive get under his glove and Josh making two bad plays.

The key was the first inning when they had the bases loaded and nobody out but only got one run as Josh, Manzardo, and Brennan could not turn it into a multi-run inning. Singer kept the ball down and away and got Josh and Manzardo to hit ground balls to short. The Guardians are now 1-9 when they don't have a multi-run inning.

KC has three lefties in the pen and they used them all. Their bullpen, ranked 24th in ERA, went 5.1 innings without allowing a hit. We'll see that from the Royals a lot this year - using multiple lefties against the G's.

Hard to believe we didn't get a run in 5.1 innings, but their relievers were sharp today.

Eleven more games between these teams this year and it looks like it's going to be a war. The Royals were missing their third best hitter in OPS with Michael Massey out. Vinny Pasquantino is 8-for-22 in his last five games. He had two doubles today and a line drive that Gimenez came up with on one hop and threw him out. The first four hitters in their batting order are really good and when they get Massey back that's five.

Schneemann was 1-for-3 with a walk and has been on five times in ten plate appearances. Hope he can keep it up.

Tells you all you need to know about our SP situation.

Like a keeper. Started 1 or 2 double plays today, diving/sliding catch in CF, 106 EV single up the middle.

Yea I seent it....he goes up there looking to swing.

Don't lose faith yet on my Roccibro..... he's still got 3 weeks to get that home run!

I always appreciate these posts, but especially after a game I wasn't able to watch much of. Thank you for what you do!

I’m going to be salty another 26 hours, AT LEAST. Probably much longer than that.

Good that the Orioles lost, and the Twins are in a rain delay, losing. But we are digging ourselves a deep hole. A Yankees’ win puts them 3.5 up on us. It’s getting to be a lot of wood to chop. We need to go on a win-streak, and have the Yanks stumble. Taking a playoff game in Yankee Stadium is going to be awfully hard.
