2024 Season | Series #21 | Guardians @ Marlins | June 7-9, 2024

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Freeman's OPS is now higher than that of Gimenez and Brennan, a not very great .693 but on the way up.
I don't mind that OPS, but the real question is should Andres be moved permanently from the 2hole

The bullpen was excellent again except for one bad 3-2 pitch by Clase. Freaking Jake Burger. Last year with the White Sox he hit five home runs and a triple against the Guardians; this year in three games he has a double and a homer off Clase. The double set up the winning run when the next batter drove him in.
The Marlins video board had a video of Burger tossing a burger with "Smash Burger" after his home run. It reminded me of the 90s 8-bit graphics of the plate of spaghetti when Paul Sorrento was up to bat.

I like the L-R-S-L-R-L of the top six with Kwan/ Freeman/ Jose/ Josh/ Fry/ Andres. Especially with relievers having at least one negative matchup in the late innings with a three batter minimum.
The thing is Andres has never shown platoon splits and neither has Freeman so I don't really think it matters much. I just want a good hitter in the #2 hole and I'm not sure either are good enough for that spot. I'd honestly rather JRam there but he must like hitting #3.

1. Does the AJ in AJ Puk stand for Abner Jedediah? Is he allowed to use the pitch com since it uses electricity?

Excellent questions. My guess is that he's just "borrowing" someone's pitch com. Kinda similar to riding in a van to the job site and using power tools that don't belong to you.

Puk definitely should not be on the list of players named after things you can eat…

So now Lively is injured?
Rcristal
At first, Vogt said he just stiffened up due to 30 min half inning. But, as you state, Cle PD has headline that he came back to Cleveland vs Cincinnati for (precautionary? Maybe) testing. Supposedly, 92.3 said same thing. Should not be serious if something and Williams can skip rest of rehab to give 4-5 innings next outing. But, just shows how these little injuries keep us from that next level. Imagine if Bieber was healthy….

Very little difference between Gimenez and Freeman in the 2 hole, and both are good fits, as the number one consideration is getting on base in front of Jose and Nails without striking out a lot.

Vs RHP

Gimenez .317
Freeman .316
League Ave .306

Vs LHP

Gimenez .325
Freeman .324
League Ave .311

But if you want some out of the box thinking...

Vs RHP

Rocchio .351

Vs RHP, Rocchio has actually been just as good overall as Gime and Freeman.

In the short term, skipping Lively shouldn't effect Williams rehab. With off days today, Thursday, and next Monday, we don't need another SP until Saturday, the 22nd.

Losing Lively for more than a few starts would be disastrous. We are not going to go thru 19 turns thru the rotation without losing more starters, and we don't have any left without him.
