2025 Draft Prospects Thread

I think we are setting it up for our tiers, e.g.
Ward at pick 2+
Sanders at pick 20+
Milroe at 30+
Etc.
all the way down to Howard or Gabriel at pick 130+ for example.

The risk being balanced between not getting a premium prospect, but also not being boxed in and blowing draft capital trading up for positional need.

It’s the best way to go about our situation.
bingo!! exactly what they are doing and the reason Cousin/Pickett will be in the house because they don't see these guys getting to them where they need to be for value. Nothing worse in the NFL than reaching for a QB and trying to play him for 2 years.

I don’t see it the same way I don’t think.

It’s not that the dudes at different tiers can’t work, it’s just a lower and lower probability as you go down tiers.

So you don’t want to draft a 5% success qb rate with a pick that is 25% multi pro bowler at another position. But you might take a 4% chance w a 3% pick… so you just tier them and have contingencies in case idiot GMs overdraft prospects throughout. So the worst outcome isn’t “we are f-ed,” it’s “veteran competitive team w Dillon Gabriel drafted late.”

That said we could get Ward. All plans must be accounted for. I just think AB is more than capable of this process. If Ward is off the board, I don’t think we are taking the Manziel of this draft class.

no that is exactly what I am saying you just put it in more detail.

I just added the higher you draft a guy the more rope he gets. The amount of playing time to prove yourself is alot of times based on where u are drafted and that is for all positions. No where did I say the worst outcome is "veteran competitive team w Dilon Gabriel drafted late". The worst outcome is Pickett being the bridge QB and moving up to grab Milroe in the 1st when his value is late 2nd/3rd and we pass on a starting OL at 33rd and a starting RB in 3rd round that we could of drafted but traded the picks for him. Like you said now we have a QB with 5% success rate that is going to get 2 years to show with fans expectation high cause he is a 1st rounder and they are going to expect it sooner rather than later. Plus we threw away a 33% 2nd and a 25% 3rd or how I put it 2 starters for him.

Yeah you are right. Worst outcome is reach and miss. My worst outcome is Gabriel w Cousins, meaning if Gabriel is taken late, it’s not that bad.

We cannot afford to reach and miss, but we can afford to not draft a QB if there aren’t any we deem worth it. That’s kind of our sad state of affairs. A vet QB would be such a stale move though.

The upside would be if Milroe hits and we get him late, and Carter is a beast. Or Ward is just a beast from day 1.

I am just not that optimistic about how this is going to go down. We have too much of a need and everyone knows it.

yeah I am ok with a late QB if they are there. I ok with Cousins and wait a year if his salary doesnt kill us. We are pushing enough back right now with Garrett/Watson that is costing us at least a starter or 2 the coming years. Hopefully we have 45 million coming back next year with Watson out all year that helps us but paying Cousins to much won't help when we need that money to help the rookie with a little better support system.

Convince me that the Browns shouldn't take Hunter, a guy who won a Heisman without being a full time offensive player, over Carter, a guy who lacks both production and health.

I'm fine with shying away from Carter over health concerns. I have no problem with Hunter.

But I think it's silly to say Carter lacks production.

13 sacks, 10 hits, 43 hurries, 22.6% pass rush win rate, 92.4 pass rush grade.

He produced plenty. He's a very good edge prospect.

I’m rooting for Hunter. But I’m worried about the team thinking he’s a better WR than corner. I’d rather have it the other way around with him getting 10-15 WR reps a game. I think he’s going to play both ways a little but he’s not going to be as impactful playing corner 10-15 plays as he would the flip side of that.

I've been banging the table for WRs, especially high pick receivers, for years so I would be fine with Hunter at 2 as a WR.

He produced fine this year. But that's also his draft year. Lack of snaps and small sample size.

Now, obviously the sample size is eye popping, and there is no reason to be super worried about Carter. But he couldn't make it a full season as a full time edge and he only did it for one season.

Idk, devil's advocate, but Hunter is, imo, a serious, serious WR talent. His body control and hands are stuff we haven't seen in Cleveland ever. And his open field speed is blazing too. I could see a team convincing themselves that Hunter is Justin Jefferson or Young OBJ 2.0
