If no rain the Guardians will play three games in the space of about 25 hours.
I wonder if striking out on three foul bunts, all off curveballs in the zone, will be the last straw for Rocchio. Is Vogt ready to go with Arias at short, Schneemann at second, and Angel in center every day?
Any word on who was called up to be the 27th player for the doubleheader today???
Lords reverse splits do not appear to be an anomaly. Hes had reverse splits in the minors, too.Game 2 preview
Ben Lively goes against Brad Lord in the nightcap.
Lord is a 25-year-old rookie right-hander who has not pitched in the bigs before this season. He's made 3 relief appearances followed by 5 starts and is 1-3 with a 4.43 ERA. The most pitches he's thrown in a game is 80 and he completed 5 innings in just one of his starts - the most recent. They're gradually stretching him out.
As a starter batters are hitting .308/.790 off him. With nobody on base his BAA is .340 with an OBP of .404 so he's seen a lot of traffic on the bases. He has extreme reverse splits as right-handers are hitting .409/.992 off him against .209/.608 by lefties. If Vogt stacks the lineup with left-handed hitters Lord might do OK.
Ben Lively is 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA. In his last six starts he's allowed 4, 0, 4, 0, 4, 0 runs. I predict he will allow 4 runs tonight. He's coming off a start where he shut out the Twins for 5.2 innings, but so far he has not been able to put together two good starts in a row.
Left-handed hitters have an OPS of .885 against .587 for righties, so Ben will have to be careful with the lefties in the Nationals batting order. The second time through the batting order opponnents are hitting .308/.898 against Lively. He needs to figure out how to be more effective against lefties and the second time through.
Let’s get to work!3 walks in a row…
Gotta make them pay for that…
