2025 Season | Series #7 | Guardians @ Pirates | April 18-20, 2025

If you want to complain about relievers being overused, go to the source of the problem and complain about that.

Our rotation presently ranks 19th in IP per start, a slight improvement over last years 24th.

Nearly every time a starter goes six innings, it eliminates the use of one reliever. Seven innings eliminates the use of two.

That's how you eliminate over used relievers.

And, of course, at some point in time, guys like Stephan and Walters will (hopefully) be in the mix, and TMac won't, which will help with the work load.

Geesh

According to real live statistics and results, NOBODY is being misused or over used, and NOBODY is being used more than Cantillo.

In fact, Cantillo has the MOST IP of anybody in the pen.

Cantillo has thrown MORE pitches than anybody in the pen.

Cantillo 192
Clase 183
Smith 178
Junis 170
Sewald 146
Gaddis 142
Herrin 126
TMac 123

If you are the guy who throws the most IP and the most pitches, you are hardly being under used.

By CBBI's way of thinking, if there is anybody being overused or abused, it's Cantillo.

You are the single dumbest person on this forum by a wide margin and there are some real stinkers in the Browns section.

I never once said Cantillo was being overused or underused, nor did I ever once say was in the wrong role for his skill set.

What I did say, factually, is that before yesterday in the first 20 games this season that neither Cantillo nor McKenzie had pitched in a high leverage scenario (tied game or Guardians leading by 1-3 runs) the entire season. 0-for-20 games. 0 high leverage outings.

And my point was that it is can be very easy to quickly overwork a bullpen when you have TWO relief pitchers that you will not use in high leverage.

You can get away with one guy like that, certainly most teams have one long man/mop up guy, but it can become quite tricky when you have two of those guys.

I'm making a comment in jest.

Some people get angsty every time the team trades away a productive player, like Josh.

Some people like to compare the production of Manzardo and Naylor directly, even though we brought in Carlos to replace Naylor at 1B.

I'm more concerned that you're daring to blaspheme Manzardo's stache like this. I think this is close to "kills animals for fun" on the "likely to be a serial killer" list.

Kyle needs to research 1920’s men’s facial hair style if he wants to sport a mustache: the style his mug could support.

Likely to be?
