This is fairly significant news. We are looking at $63M of cap credit from 2026 onward and this has been a major issue since he still has $131M (!!!!) in dead cap (the amount that we need to account for via the cap from 2026 onward).

To simplify: $131M - $63M = $68M. In English, we have to cover that via this year and void years. It'll be front-loaded to this year, but to keep it super basic, you can look at it like:
1. 5 years makes ~$14M/year for 1 year of play then 4 void years.
OR
2. Just a little more granular, and yes I am a serial rounder: $23M for 2026's one year of play ($45-$9-$8-$5), then an average dead cap of ~$11.25M per year for 4 void years.

Go easy on me, this was just me going fast.

Its allot more than many of us anticipated and since its a carry forward and about half (not quite I believe) of Watson's remaining cap is for this year, depending how they use the cap credit, we will be out of the negative impact of Watson pretty much after the 2026 season.

Cant wait till we move own from the POS.

If the article is correct, we will realize it over time, and the 2026 adjustment itself will be $22M. I can't quite tell but I believe that'll be credited this year (not at the end of the year). It's beyond the scope of my understanding.

It's more than I thought we'd get credit for, and a huge benefit, but I wouldn't call it "done" after 2026 since we still have to work through $45M of dead cap, and his projected dead cap hits would basically be one of our highest paid rostered players... *but* these are significant details that we hadn't yet known.

So when you look at our multiyear deadcap $, which will grow as players enter the void years, you can at least see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Ward needs to ball out and get the Browns a 2nd round pick from a contender that has a huge hole at corner at the deadline

It has been argued that Fannin will be a stat regression candidate due to us having injected talent into the offense at the WR position. I see the logic but can't say that I agree - we had 1.5 touchdowns/game last year on offense. There were 5 teams with at least double that number. I don't think that we make extreme leaps, but more plays, more yards, more first downs, and more touchdowns isn't outlandish, even if we stay in the bottom 1/3rd of the league for total offense.

I will say that I find this list a bit odd because there were only 2 LBs, and one was Warner, who had a lowest ranking higher than unranked. What this means is that there is a wide dispersion of opinions. To say that there were certain opinions counted that didn't have Roquan Smith as a top 10 linebacker is wild work.

At any rate, the biggest knock on Schwes is that he has only done it for 1 year. That's a resounding success in my book.
