They'll cheer if he does well. Not arguing that at all.

I just think the fans are going to be inclined to boo very relentlessly if he doesn't do well. Far more than they would a different QB.

Like I envision the fans booing normal incomplete passes. Things that would not normally illicit boos will illicit a negative reaction because of how much they just don't want to see this guy.

It puts the pressure on him to play well immediately, and he's already on record admitting how much the home fans booing him bothers him.

It just feels like a recipe for a big mess.

The only way I see him being treated semi-normal is if the offense looks REALLY good the first two weeks and we're 2-0.

1-1 or 0-2 with a sputtering offense scoring 13-17 points a game and there will be no difference from the preseason.

He HAS been cheered here before, when we were beating the Bengals week 1 a couple years ago:

I think that is objectively true. Watson has baggage surrounding him that our other shitty QBs don't. The contract, the lost draft picks, the necessary rebuild that led to us losing Garrett, and, of course, all of the sexual assaults. Add in the fact that, not only has he never apologized or admitted any wrongdoing, but he actively antagonizes the fans with statements about how he doesn't regret anything in his life, which is an absolutely insane thing to say even if you haven't assaulted or harassed dozens of women.

My biggest hope is that Stefanski was such a boring generic vanilla play caller that monken who has had success everywhere he’s been can tailor can offense better for Watson. Monken knows how to coach up QBs. Maybe he can be the Watson whisperer. Or maybe not. But there was no chance in hell we were getting that out of KS.
 
I think last years offense would have been a lot better if Judkins had not gotten hurt.

And thanks but I really don’t belong with those other three. They do much better in depth analysis than me. I’m just trying to bring some good vibes and hope. At this point I’m just waiting for week 1. Not much to talk about til we get some game tape.

I woke up today thinking about that Browns offensive line. Those of you waking up thinking about the QB situation make your own daily hell.

I think Wypler is just around until Brailsford gets up to speed. He hasn't been practicing for a few weeks. I guess Zinter is progressing into the guy they thought they were getting, which is a plus. With Barber separating himself as a legit starting talent at multiple positions, they can carry all those centers.

While the biggest issue with the Baker/Watson run on the line has been swing tackle, we look deep for the first time in forever. In the past we look awesome until Conklin would Conk... Followed by Thanos twisting himself funny and going on IR. Now we have Barber ready to go, Thanks can play until he snaps, and then Levenson still on Practice Squad.

What are we doing here? Maybe I’m overreacting, but 1. Why is she talking to the media. 2. Why is she not in Browns gear? You can wear old navy shit in your house or at Kroger.
