2026 Columbus Clippers

It looks like Huff has the Milan Tolentino strategy going on - hitting well at the friendly confines of Huntington Park (.982 OPS vs. .713 OPS on the road).- Next Year in Cleveland
...having as many homers in the first month as he did all last season.. should get some kind of notice...

Cooper [Ingle] has the bat, but he has to be better defensively. He’s been working and it has been better than it has been in the past...He’s not a finished product, nor does he have to be to help us up here. But we’ve got three really good catchers in that clubhouse right now - James Harris, Guardians assistant GM

Espino’s stuff is back. His velocity is back. Our hope is that he’s up here helping us really soon. - Asst GM James Harris

Harris on Franco Aleman (in case anybody missed Hoynes' column):

He’s got a big fastball and splitter. The arsenal is very similar to Cade Smith’s. Last year he worked on attacking the strike zone. This year, he’s made strides in that direction.

His splitter doesn’t work unless he’s getting the fastball dominating in the zone. This year, he’s getting the fastball in the zone so he can throw the splitter off of it.

The problem is we were throwing him in the ninth inning. So, when you pick your head up every night, he was throwing less than 10 pitches.

Now we have to get him in other situations so he can build his volume. Plus you don’t learn a lot of if you go out there and throw your fastball eight times and get three outs.

You need to come in with runners on base so you can practice that. It is the same thing we had to do with James Karinchak a few years ago. We need to move him around a little.

Cooper Ingle 3-4 with a double, a walk, a K, and threw out one of two base stealers!

Those are Bo Naylor numbers, except for the 3 hits part…

We need one of those gifs that shows Bo in the driver's seat and Ingle in the rear view mirror... it may be impossible to keep Ingle down much longer...

We may have to start talking about Rorik Maltrud as a legit depth piece for our rotation. He’s behind Peterson and Allen(and maybe others) in the pecking order for now, but …..today he went 7 Innings, 1 hit, 8 k,s …..season ERA of 2.30 in 34 innings on the year. Im guessing his stuff is not special, and he put up modest numbers through a few minor league seasons, so he may be overachieving. Or maybe a late bloomer aided by the factory (?)

He has a chance to essentially take that 9th/10th spot in the depth chart and he doesn't need to be added to the 40 man unti Nov of 27...

That being stated... Fastest his fastball I saw was a shade under 93...

Does anyone have his movement on his pitches/legit scouting on his pitches?

I’ve watched him a few times. He is consistent. He has two pitches, with an occasional curve ball and changeup. Nothing has looked plus to me, but with his mix he keeps minor leaguers off balance. Perhaps his slider in particular is better than my opinion.

He has decent command, knows how to sequence and apparently excellent extension.

He doesn’t back down, goes after guys.

He could end up a shit eater/inning eater in MLB with his stuff. But based on what I’ve seen, clinging to a fifth starter/swing man spot for a couple years is his ceiling.

All that said, as an undrafted FA he is killing it.

Interesting development in Columbus could be brewing. Trenton Denholm comes on in relief following Avila and Dion.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Stephen promoted soon. Or maybe Gomez is on his way back finally.
