2026 Hill City Howlers

Ryan Prager is making his first start of the year today for Hill City.

He’s never gone more than three innings in a single game this year, not sure if that was a slow ramp up after return from injury. Seems likely as he’s been a multi inning (2 inning) reliever since returning. Or it could be an attempt to move him into a full time starter role based on his results and the overall shaky performance of the Howler rotation.

Either way, will be interesting to see how he does.
 
No Ryan Prager at all today…

The Hill City manager basically handed the game to Augusta Greenjackets after the Howlers pulled ahead by two in the top off the ninth.

He put in Ettore Giulianelli for the bottom of ninth. Who walked three, hit a guy in the head and gave up two singles. He struck out one. This guy has an idea where it’s going, but it rarely gets there and everything looks flat. Second time I have seen him and he’s looked terrible both times.

The Rimini, Italy native was unable to get the ball pasta hitters.
 
Chase Mobley looks like a cut candidate at this point rather than a prospect. Walks 5 guys in 0.2 innings. Has ABSOLUTELY NO idea where the ball is going. He in the antithesis of free and easy arm action…. And I guess it would be a little different if he was bringing 97-98 mph… but he was 92-93 with peak of 94. His mechanics and especially his release looks like a mess… I dunno what say you guys?

It sounds like him and his cousin Evan's dream of leading Cleveland to sports glory in two different sports isn't going to happen.
 
I wasn’t expecting to see him look as bad as he did. I expected wildness, but also some electric stuff. He was wild alright, but his fastball was average and looked flat without much movement either from my vantage point.
 
Mobley is the worst pitcher in low A, it's really ugly. Not only surface stats, peripherals and batted ball too.

Huge disappointment and 1.8M set on fire. He was considered a project and looks like he never really moved forward on that promise.

Clefo really gambled after the higher floor picks of Bazzana/Doughty in the 2024 draft and so far not much to show for it. I hope Cam Sullivan makes his debut later this season
 
Fangraphs has Mobley ranked 7,070 out of 7,073. Fourth worst player in all of minor league baseball relative to age and level. And he's only 20 and playing at low A so he's got age and level working for him.

Ryan Webb at age 27 is ranked 7,050 - our second worst performing farm hand.

Isn’t Webb injured this season? Or is he back? Too lazy to look.
 
Anyone know what’s going on with Robert Arias? Looks like he hasn’t played since late May.

I believe he is out for the year as this happen at the beginning of June

Clean break, no ligaments. You'd almost rather have this than a grade 3 sprain
