Nah, because Fanduel at least had it's own channel on certain services like Spectrum, DirecTv, Fubo, etc. where the cost of watching the Cavs was baked into the cost of the cable/satellite/streaming package. DAZN is a standalone app. This is fucking stupid.
 
I complained alot about Fanduel (rightfully so) but at least for that 20 a month I also got a bit more value (Blue Jackets).

This is insulting to Cavs fans, when we see other NBA teams being a lot more friendly to their fanbase.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do. Cavs just waved a middle finger to their fanbase if you ask me.. might be high seas time.
 
Did Gilbert incur some sort of significant financial loss and decided a good way to recoup costs was to charge a streaming fee to watch Cavs games?

Well, IF the rationale for the increased cost is paying for the Sirens, I wouldn't pay for the broadcasts. Of course, that's pretty damn hard to prove.
 


Mitchell/Mobley need to have their own lingo while Harden/JA's chemistry needs to develop further. I will say JA was much more engaged when Harden came over

I agree that this team will be insanely deep. I expect Tomlin and Proctor to make big jumps, Tyson and CPJ to make smaller but noticeable ones, Herzonja to contribute like a taller Niang, Merrill to be even more effective as he ramps up his penetration when defenders close hard on his 3-point shot, and Thomas to be a solid replacement for Ellis.

I think this team will be more injury resistant than other teams who rely heavily on six or seven players.

Totally disagree on the depth. I have confidence in having 2 legit playoff bench players, Tyson and Merrill. I hope the Euro guy is good, but we don't know. I have high hopes for Thomas, but he's a 2nd round rookie. We're banking on big improvement from Proctor. And each of the remaining guys is less than 10% likely to be a playoff player.

Last year's bench was much better, in theory.

Yeah last year's bench was significantly better, not sure why anyone would disagree. This bench has more potential perhaps, but other than Merrill and Tyson legit the other guys might all bust...in fact at least half of them will most likely...so...I guess the hope that at least 2 other guys can somehow get it together.

But the odds are really against us. Unfortunately of the 3 or 4 other guys, not Tyson or Merrill....Meleeks by far has the highest ceiling but the dude is 19 years old....not gonna be much help this year most likely.

Wade is a legitimate loss, but I expect Hezjona to be significantly better than Nance and no worse than Hunter. Strus was not the same last year coming off of Jones surgery. Garland, Merrill, and Strus missing significant time with injuries really depleted our rotations in a meaningful way that hopefully won't happen this year. Proctor needs to be better than Ball and hopefully as good as Schroder by the end of the year. Tyson and Tomlin need to not regress when given more minutes.
 
Cavs are gambling with a underpaid bench but they are far from the only team doing so in the NBA
 
While it's true that a team needs a good bench to get farther in the NBA, do people forget how we actually got the pieces from previous years?

Wade was originally our developmental piece from years ago from the undrafted category. Merrill, rotting at the end of the a championship bench from years ago, became our developmental piece in the years since. Tyson, however limited his chances were in the playoffs, had turned into a decent piece last year. Even Ty Jerome, however long his body held up, had his value restored before leaving in free agency last year.

It's not to say we won't get that production from the scrap heap. And between Tomlin, Porter Jr, Proctor, Thomas, and Hezonja, not all of them will hit. But we gotta give it a chance, right? We have some hungry youth mixed with the real talent. I want to see what happens, and it might be fun. That's how I feel anyways...

If we're counting Wade as a bench guy, then who are we counting as last season's 5th starter?

Whoever we count as the 5th starter last season was replaced by Watson, so that isn't a "loss".
