I suspect that OKC will be interested in either Allen or Mobley. Hartenstein as a team option and I expect the Thunder will decline Hartenstein, Dort, and Kenrich Williams to get under the 1st Apron. Mobley would be preferred, but Allen tends to force Wembanyana out on the perimeter and keeps him away from the basket. He does not bite on the pump fakes like we saw happen to OKC A LOT yesterday.

If it's Mobley, the package would have to be Jaylen Williams, Thomas Sorber, and three first round draft picks to start. Though if you get Jaylen Williams, Donovan Mitchell is expendable.
 
Thunder have the assets to trade for anybody on the Cavs. Gotta wonder if they secretly covet Mitchell??? Provides something they don't have and they can control his minutes.

Garland was great at getting the bigs the ball without turning it over, but I don't buy the idea that anyone is blocking Mobley's development. If anything, he's really lucky to be on a team where the opponent feels the need to put a guy like Barnes on Mitchell instead of him. He got plenty of touches this last playoff run, he was just mediocre.

If anything, he needs to expend more energy on defense where the slippage has been notable. You should not go from DPOY to getting zero votes.

If Mobley can't be a legit 20+ ppg guy then you should blow this thing up because you aren't ever going to be a real contender with Mitchell and Harden dominating usage like last post season. So either you believe in Mobley's offensive development or you have a team that can't compete at the highest level

I don’t agree with this. Garland was very good at making dump off passes for dunks, but he was not great at getting guys the ball in position to make their own plays, and he did indeed turn the ball over plenty.

Comparing regular season Garland to this playoff run doesn’t do it justice.

Darius Garland had 10 or more assists exactly one time in a playoff game as a Cavalier, and it came in a game 4 loss to the Knicks.

He’s not a floor general and that’s never been his game. I don’t think it’s coincidental that Mobley had his best playoff games with Garland gone. We watched the guards collectively freeze out the bigs in multiple postseasons series prior to this year.

I can’t see Griff coming back as anything other than a part time consultant gig as a favor to him until he finds his next role.

He’s Koby’s protege, so Koby doing him a favor makes a lot of sense.

A major part of why Griff left to begin with was that he wanted more power. Can’t see him now accepting a lesser role in the same franchise to a guy he helped “train” years ago.

The Thunder style of offense and defense would play right into Mobley’s strengths. He’d be a star for them. I wouldn’t let that stop me from making a deal with OKC. They have too much talent and too many picks to hold onto. They are in a position where they won’t mind overpaying for someone if it makes them better. My question is do they value Mobley’s giant salary. He’s more expensive than Chet or JDub and how would they bring him in without messing up their salary structure?
 
If they traded Mobley for picks I think Mitchell would be outta here after next season. The whole point of trading Garland for Harden was to try and win a Championship before Mitchell starts slowing down.

Koby said Mobley was the Cavs' best player in the playoffs. Trading him for picks means you are pushing your window down the road for a few years. Mitchell would leave.

Reports are they will sign Harden to a two-year deal to get out of the second apron. Then they can aggregate players. I think the plan is to try and make a trade similar to the LeVert and Niang for De'Andre Hunter deal, only with a better result this time. Maybe Strus and Schroder could be packaged, although I doubt we could get much for them. Fedor says we can trade the #29 pick during the draft.

My plan is to push the development of Tyson, Proctor, and Tomlin really hard next year. Make it a priority. When asked what players he expects to make a jump next year Altman immediately stated Proctor. Kenny said Proctor is "going to be a heck of a really good player in this league."

Mobley had his best playoff performance in the Celtics series when Mitchell was out. Garland had less turnovers per game than Harden and more assists per game than Mitchell.

That's with his numbers in the Pacers series included and he had no business playing in it. If the Cavs had the same Garland from the Heat series, who knows how it plays out.

You can trade the rights to the player after they are drafted.

I don’t see how this helps Mitchell & Harden. Tyson, Proctor & Tomlin are not going to be playoff ready for a number of years. Unless a player is supremely talented, they aren’t usually playoff positives until mid career.

OKC has J Dub and expendable perimeter players who are proven playoff performers. They could put together a win-now package with a single pick as a sweetener. I'm not advocating for such a trade, but it would be a lot more defensible than Mobley for a Giannis rental, or Allen for a LBJ rental.

We should have unequivocally zero interest in Mobley for picks. Even if it is 5. We have too many good young pieces to do that and Mitchell will assuredly bail in that scenario.

I think the one trade that is certainly out there is Chet+. You can probably make an argument that both teams get better if OKC gets Mobley and the Cavs get Chet + a first round pick (or similar). Cavs could use that asset in a trade or just use it to add another young player to their team. OKC gets a player more equipped to battle with Wemby.

With that said, I wanna stay about 12 miles away from any trade Sam Presti wants to execute with Koby.
